    Default Rusful Clue Information

I already sent this post once. I have no idea why it didn't take. But here it all is again.

There are actually two posts coming. I can only figure out how to send one attachment at a time.

Clue #3. I have said this before. Clue #3 says there are six Rusful tokens. I don't understand why MS has put out six - but that's what it says.

Clue #3, 4 and 5: There are six dates associated with the three clues. These dates contains the nearest Highway or Route number of each of the six cities:
6-1-05 No telling this one yet
9-17-05 Golden Gate Park is off Highway 1
11-19-05 Not telling this one yet
11-26-05 New Orleans City Park is off Highway 610
12-3-05 Not telling this one yet
    12-10-05 Devil's Tower is off Highway 110

Clue #4: Please see the attachment on this and the next post. This one shows you where the letters are located at the bottom of the page in the leaves and branches to spell out 'New Orleans'. The second post's attachment shows you where 'Gillette' is spelled out in the lower right in the flowers, leaves and branches (Gillette is the closest large town to Devil's Tower). That attachment also shows how 'San Francisco' is spelled out in the fairy, leaves and branches at the left of the picture.

Clue #5: The Golden Gate letters came from the 'new' letters in the last edition of clue #5, as we all know.
The Devil's Tower letters came from ALL the letters in the last edition of Clue #5. You split the letters up by color and location. Don't always expect to use all the letters in your anagrams.
The New Orleans City Park letters came from the existing letters in the 11/26/05 edition, again splitting them up by color and location.

I am quite frustrated with the Devil's Tower site. I have the data from Clue #4, clue #5 and the book (LOTS from the book). The token should be in the paved parking lot at the Devil's Tower Visitor Center in a fir tree. I have had it thoroughly searched by someone who lives nearby. There is no token. But I am told there are many pack rats in the area who would just love to come upon a nice shiny gold token and take it home.

I am worried of course about the New Orleans City Park token. (I have the Clue #4, #5 and LOTS of book information to support it). I wanted to have the lady from New Orleans who lost everything in Katrina find it. But I know that over 1,000 trees were destroyed in Katrina so I have no idea if the token is still there or not. It should be at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters, at the side near the Botanical Garden and the Popp Bandstand.

As to the other three locations: I have had a devil of a time (javascript:emoticon('') getting out of town. I only have a standby ticket and can't get to my location during spring break and now Easter weekend. If luck is with me I will travel to a site next week. I also have someone checking the next site but the snow is currently too deep. We'll just have to wait for lots of warm weather on that one. For the last, I am trying to convince someone on ATT to check this one out. I guess I'll have to find a token first to convince everyone I know what I'm talking about.

Hopefully this will convince you that the game is still on. Let's play!!!

Shoot. For some reason the system won't let me attach the Clue #4 pages.

If someone can give me some advice on how to get these attachments going, please do.

Otherwise - take a look at the orange fairy at the left of Clue #4. The 'S' from San Francisco is formed by her back, butt and thighs. The 'F' is the two tips of her wings and the top of her head. The 'R' is formed by her legs. It is tipped over on its right side. The tiny hole between her calves is the top circular portion of the R and her two lower legs are the two legs of the R. The two 'N's' in San Francisco come from the upward curving branch about an inch below the orange fairy. The left leg of the N starts at the tip of a leaf on the right of the branch, then the middle leg of the N is the stem and the right leg of the N is the next leaf on the left of the branch. Make sense? The 'I' is the little bud laying on its left side in the branch immediately under the orange fairy. The first 'A' is upside down just slightly above and to the right of the orange fairy using the two stems and a leaf to connect. Etc.

Gilette is in the leaves, stems and flowers at the lower right. The G is almost in the middle at the bottom of the page - a big sweeping circular G. The I is in the middle of the single purple leaf, etc.

New Orleans starts about 3/4 of a inch inside the left side of the picture, about 1/2 inch above the bottom of the picture. The N, E, W, O and R and are in a fairly straight line. The sizes of the letters vary from 1/4 of an inch to 3/4 of an inch. The L is right in the middle of the page about two inches up from the bottom. The E comes down from it and to the right. The A is on its left side 1/2 inch up and 1/2 inch to the right of the E. The N is almost directly above the A and the S is about 1 inch above and slightly to the left of the last N.

Lots of words, pictures would be much better.

    Good Luck,
    Seacherite

I dont ever post and I dont want to be negative, but those "names" you found in the fairy clue seem to be a BIG stretch.

interesting find! it seems like a bit of a stretch to me too, but I thought a 5x5 grid was rediculous...and look what happened! How did you get the six tokens on clue 3?

For Clue #3 I kept it very siimple.

There are 19 plants. I made a 5X10 grid (with one exception). For one coordinate you count how many leaves there are on a given plant. For the other coordinate you count the number of colors in the petals. A key here is to realize that the green thing at the left tip of a few of the plants is a petal, not a leaf. Count that as another color of petal. Its best to do this counterclockwise. You will find one plant that his six colors. At first I thought this was in error, but it makes sense if you think like MS. When I ran this grid I came out with 19 letters of course and RUSFUL came out loud and clear. But I couldn't make anything else sensible come out. It bothered me that I only used the left half of Clue #3 (with the one exception). So I then reran the 5X10 (plus one 6) on the right side of Clue #3. Because of the one coordinate with a six, you have to wrap that coordinate around to the left side again. But only in that one case. You now have 38 letters to deal with. But 'Rusful is in six ... ' is pretty clear there. Especially since there are six dates between Clue #3, 4 and 5 and these dates correspond to six highways, and what I have already said about Clue #4 and Clue #5.

On the ATT website, I also posted that MS makes multiple Rusful's possible in the story. Check out my post.
