cthree, you're fast, I had to edit my post to include Georgia, but I'm still feeling sure about mm 3. From the earlier posts, I didn't see any confirmation coming from the finder suggesting anything but #2 from clues on 10th floor. (If I'm wrong, please disregard my post, lol)

It states that the find has been from Florida(Central) on the book's site.
    That is a confirmer.

So how was the state determined from the clues? I can't venture even a guess.

The gator head with the guns pointing at it. Florida Gators, gator hunting, pointing...

If I had noticed this post before i would have commented sooner.

Jeanine, I'm going to try and answer your question.

The reason people do what you refer to as "making it so hard" is because the brain is rewarded for that "aha!" moment when it happens. The deeper the encryption and the deeper the pull, the deeper that reward can be. It is natural and admirable for a puzzler to attack the chaotic scenes like the ones in Clock with word games, anagrams, simple harmonic motion (which i was sure was involved at one time), light, cutting of the book, chemical solution...anything that comes to mind! Nothing can or should be overlooked. If we are all to remain conservative, who is there to check the pattern of the sun during the solstice as it passes the cross on the monument to make a shadow in a particular place in a field where we should dig? Sound familiar?

I don't know if you are directly referencing Sara but I have spent time with her and can tell you she is far from wasting her time. Looking very deeply into a puzzle with no concept of the method (which if you look at the date of her post we did not have) is not only a great tact but admirable.

Please try to make sure your comments do not deter people from searching however they see fit. You may not have meant harm but I can see how your comment might feel like an attack to Sara. It is of utmost importance that we check all facets and entertain all possibilities. A good question to ask yourself might be:

Would you be prepared to make a bet that there is no meta? No layers beyond these? At this point, with all of the interesting word play that has come out, I wouldn't take that bet.

I hope you all continue to work on whichever aspect of the puzzle entertains and enlightens you.

    c

I am truly sorry if my comment was taken negatively. I value my time at tweleve and would never intentionally offend anybody.
