    Default What about rain/water fall?

I was leaning toward a rain motif. There are lots of water bottles - many of them leaking - on this floor. Quello is working on a "tears into clouds" experiment; Klobberduck has a waterfall in his apartment. Some of the clews on Klobberduck's hammock are near his bathtub, where he was taking his Sunday bath (or so he claims) when the gorillas broke in (or so he claims). I think the umbrellas could be about falling water.

If the ultraviolet theory is right, though (and it may well be), we should look at Floor 2, where there is a big irradiation machine. I wonder if there is a room in that maze/apartment somehow representing each of the floors of the Ternky Tower? One of them does have a cloud - could be an allusion to the "tears into coulds" notion. Hmm. You may be onto something.

I believe I've finally got this one figured out. I've thought several times I was right too many different ways to say this with any credibility but, hey, fwiw, I searched and again found nothing. I discovered a temporary sign printed on paper had been taped over the face of the permanent metal sign concerning Rules and Regulations. The rules cited that NO digging, defacing, or appending anything to the trees is allowed. I decided to send Gus an email of my findings.

Default I'm pretty sure I've got it

    Famous last words.

But anyway, I have some confederates near the location whom I am trying to recruit for the hunt. I can't get there myself, at least not for quite a while. If my site and erexere's are the same, maybe my people will also find the paper he mentioned. We will see, probably after the weekend.

--- Hm, I guess not, I see erexere's location is somewhere in the vicinity of Oregon, based on his last fruitless search report. So my solve is different, it is on I-95.

Default Of course there are other possibilities...

As Daddio Mad pointed out on TCWF site, Bonnie Tyler made #1 with "Total Eclipse of the Heart". However, that was "impossible" according to Siegfried. On the other hand, Andy Williams had #11 with "Moon River".

Delaware, the red herring, was the first state. New York, possibly the state of "The First Tube Steak", was the 11th state.

The only issue with new York and I-95 is that there don't appear to be any service areas or rest areas with that st. Hgwy. There are some nearby in New Jersey, but that's Jersey, not NY. Maybe my research is bad.

    Default Anaxagoras and Indiana

    Hello All,

I am new to posting, but have been following the various sites and reading the book over and over as well for the last few months. My 14 year old an I checked out Interstate 94 mm 105 and companion rest area mm100 in Minnesota based on a reference to MN on another wiki site. We had no luck but, had a good time. I did a little searching into the Anaxagoras and Indiana reference from Plumpjack. What these "two" could not do was "square a circle", Indiana, referes to the state of Indiana which in 1897 was aggressive in trying to pass a bill which they thought was the solution to "squaring the circle" the bill was better know as #246.
I believe a number 7 was found in Indiana, so I am not sure what to make , but thought I could add a little to help solve floor 4.

    Default Squaring the circle

Excellent, polishprincess. I forgot about the Indiana bill to make pi=3.2. So squaring the circle does seem to be important. Unfortunately I haven't connected that to my solve, although I think it still looks good. Thanks for the report on MN I-94 MM 105. I was wondering about that one.

There is also the clue of "In Geometry and sleuthing, the simple solution is not always the correct one". Ties in with the theme of squaring a circle.

My head is spinning today. I woke up thinking I had a good enough solve to travel. Then I thought I had another great solve for another place. Now I am lost.

    Default Perfect circle

The first line of the 4th floor text is, "The front door on the fourth floor was a perfect circle."

Here are the lyrics of the REM song "Perfect Circle":

Put your hair back, we get to leave
    Eleven gallows on your sleeve
    Shallow figure, winner's paid
Eleven shadows way out of place
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room

Pull your dress on and stay real close
Who might leave you where I left off?
A perfect circle of acquaintances and friends
Heaven assumed, shoulders high in the room
Heaven assumed, shoulders high in the room
Heaven assumed, shoulders high in the room

Try to win and suit your needs
Speak out sometimes but try to
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room

There is also a rock group A Perfect Circle, a company that manufactures piston rings in NJ, and a science fiction novel by Sean Stewart.

    Default Squares

Something I noticed a long time ago was that the square tiles in the kitchen are in an irregular pattern. I couldn't make anything out of it though. The bathroom tiles are also square, two sizes, but I don't see how much could be encoded there.
