I had thought this one was on I-90. With the talk of the "translucent tubes"...I see a perfect "90" in the bottom of the tubes in the piano room. Then with all the references to the moon, I thought of night time and darkness---hence the Black Hills of South Dakota. Then...the tube ending and the two perfectly placed water bowls looked like a "100"...so I checked out the rest area of South Dakota's mm 100. My helpers weren't all that enthusiastic (I think they think I'm nuts...pardon the pun) and we were sort of in a hurry, so if anyone thinks it a possibility perhaps the trees could use another once over if anyone is near the area. The "5" perplexes me. But, hey...yet another possibility at a solve.

    Default Freemasons

This is one clue we gleaned from the latest Cluesday clue:
    Squaring a Circle:
Constructing a square equal in area to a circle using only a straightedge and a compass.

If you look at the symbol of Freemasonry, it has the compass and a
straightedge square. Freemasons were also obsessed with trying to
    "square a circle".

Could there be a connection to Freemasonry to direct us to a certain state?

I know that New York (Coney Island) is given the recognition being the
first state to serve Hot Dogs (tube steaks). Is this another confirmation?
    or a visual secondary clue...?

The square tile and circular door of the kitchen caught my attention as well. By my count there are 18 dark blue tiles. Possibly mile 18 somewhere...

I have a working theory that I have been goiing on with this floor for a while. Since my ultimate solve for this floor ended up being a bust, I thought I would share what I think is a very important component of this floor.

I believe color is the key theme for this floor, specifically, colors of the rainbow. This floor is occupied by Siegfried and Montecore. Someone on this board sharply pointed out that Montecore was the name of the tiger that mauled Roy of Siegfried and Roy. Roy is an implied missing element here. I believe that the implied Roy is to suggest the mnemonic device for the colors of the rainbow, ROY G BIV.

I also think that is what makes the Delaware hint a red herring. It is in black. That would also make the 5 a red herring as well. I am undecided about whether it means the 95 on the thermometer is also red herring. The number is written in black, but the thermometer itself is red. I am actually inclined to say that it is red herring since we are running out of 95 rest areas.

The only quirk to this is that there are 7 colors on the rainbow, and only 6 of those colors are on this floor. I would guess that indigo and violet would be hard to distinguish. What is interesting too is that there are at least 3 examples of things that are in groups of 7, and one member of the group is an oddball.
    1. 7 Red lights. 1 is in the top room with the small tubes
    2. 7 Water bottles. 1 is much bigger than the rest
    3. 7 carrots. 1 is chopped up (into 7 pieces).

So, that's all I got. It is interesting that the lobby area of this floor has each color. Haven't been able to piece it together yet, but I hope this helps someone.

    Default Found?

    Nick, thanks for spotting this!

The following has been posted to the Solutions page on the Wiki:
    • Number Found:
    • Found By/On: Nina G. / July 23
    • State: Georgia --The sheet music on the Piano has the notes G and A.
    • Highway: 95 -- The temperature of the thermometer
    • Mile: 5 -- A number 5 is etched into the sawdust on the floor in the sawdust covered room
    • Blog post:
But I don't see a Mile 5 Rest Area on I-95 in Georgia. What number was found?

I am quite sure this is bogus. I could edit that wiki right now to show that I found it on the 5th moon of Jupiter. No number, no report on the official site= somebody thinks they figured it out so they went ahead and posted it as a solve.

    I fear it's true.

    ...but also bogus...
    here is why:

ROYGBIV is right, as it relates to music notes by Isaac Newton's drawing of a circle in his 1704 publication "Opticks". Note D through C represents Red through Violet respectively.

The notes aren't relevant as useful information other than finding the Opticks reference.

The colors Green and Blue are relevant since they transform to the letters G and A, Georgia.
(I presume it uses the Green wheels and the Blue water bottles, or perhaps the Books on the shelf that stand between Red books, repeating the pattern on the next row as well)

The colors Green and Violet are combined in at least three places, Bath Rug, Armchair, and Flowers in vase, which translates to Notes: G and C, Glynn County, rest area between exits 38 and 42.

    Erexere,

Seriously, you either have amazing database of knowledge in your head or you are awesome at research. Either way, I think you have nailed the link between the colors and the notes.

With that said, I don't necessarily agree with your final conclusions. The reason being that the solve card that you can download from website suggests a definitive solution of shm, not counties.

Regardless, I think these revelations make me even more convinced that the "solution" on that wiki are bogus.
