    Any diggers near Boise?
I think we have a pretty good idea where this one is.

If it is that Fruitland Rest stop you could throw a stone and hit Oregon at, I think you are on to something. 84 at MM #1. Bonus, there are not two sides to search...and fewer trees than others.

Cheers to the searchers. On On!

Hey guys, I haven't posted here before but I thought I should share my story.
Drove out about 7 hours from Portland, OR yesterday to the rest stop near Fruitaland, ID just across the Oregon/Idaho Border.... NOTHING!
Spent over and hour looking at every single tree, bush, and plant in the vicinity. No markings on anything and no suspicious looking spots on the ground. I've had a suspision for some time that it was Idaho, Hwy 84, Mile 1 and after the other numbers started turning up at rest stops I was convinced. Unfortunately, to quote Mr. Twintig, "Sometimes the answer is incorrect; sometimes incorrect is the answer."
Does anyone else have any working theories on this? I considered driving further into Idaho and looking at other rest stops but as it was I didn't get back home until almost 2am. Oh well. Can't say it wasn't an exciting adventure.

My husband and I also live in Portland and he was half way to that exact rest stop when I checked this board and saw this posting. He's turning around and heading back to the city now. Thanks for saving us a bunch of time and wasted gas!

    Back to the drawing board.

I still feel like it is the right spot, but maybe someone has already found it and removed the marker? I think this was an issue with another number. Gus Twintig promises a full update tomorrow so I'm curious to see if maybe someone reported their find to him without posting on any of the message boards.

    Default Removed Marker?

Someone mentioned that they found their marker around knee-height. Did you look that low? Would it be worth another search, or do you think that's a waste of time? My husband is still chomping at the bit, but neither of us is excited about a 14-hour goose chase, especially since you've already taken one for the team.

Thanks again for posting about your search!

I definitely wouldn't want to discourage anyone from doing a hunt of their own. That being said, I feel like I did a pretty thorough search, high and low. The rest stop is not that large and is only on one side of the highway. Also, after that long drive, I wasn't about to take just a quick look and then head right back home. What I was looking for was a small piece of metal shaped like the book similar to the one in a picture from the #7 find. Possibly the markers are different in each area, but I doubt it, and even so I still didn't see anything unusual on the trees or on the ground near the trees.

Until I find another reasonable solution I am sticking to the theory that someone else beat me to it. It wouldn't be very hard to cover up the hole, and personally I would have taken the marker to keep as a souvenir.
I was very close to going out to this spot a few weeks ago, but then people on this board started getting carried away with anagrams, red herrings, floor to floor mazes and what not which made me think it couldn't be as simple as just a state, highway, and mile. Now I am kicking myself for not following my original instinct.
Oh well, what can you do. Being that the numbers are cursed and all, maybe it's for the best...
