Default Spanish and Japanese PDF Files

Hmm... does this rule out any puzzles being in the text itself?

Yes... look at the official website, they're free to download.
    They contain no pictures.

    Default Text not used?

I do not believe this excludes the text from solutions, but it does point out one thing to me that is definitely of interest. There are a few possible scenarios.

    1. The images are hidden because they are where all of the clues are and if you could just get a free download of the images, why buy the book?

    2. The images are the key, but they are different in each version of the book.

    3. The English text is there because the images lead readers to the English text. The readers of other countries can go to the site, download the English versions, then use them to figure out the clue references to the English text.

Has anyone seen a version of the book from other countries?

That's odd. There are no Spanish speaking countries that are eligible to win the prize. But I think it doesn't rule out the possibility of clues being in the text. MS is very emphatic that Anyone who can read English can look for the clues. He's made the story available, and since it's in a different language, the clues, if any, aren't there anymore.

I caught you a delicious bass.

There are PDF's of the hunt in various languages and the official rules in the back of the book are printed in English, French, German & Japanese...yet, the 4th paragraph of the Preface states "...will give anyone anywhere in the world who can read English a chance to solve..."

Looks like no matter what language the hunt is translated into, the only correct solves will be in English. Glad I am fairly familiar with the English language

.........time to add a DAR ring to my collection.........

    Default chinese version

Someone with the Chinese version of the book was kind enough to post in the official forums, so I figured I would give the people over here a heads up-
It is entirely in Chinese, except for the BOS which is in English, and the additional rules pages which are in the typical English, French, etc. While I do believe the story as a whole can have hints, I do not believe the text in the story itself can directly lead to a solve.
