here's the transcription of the 84 cards. I haven't included gender or background colour which Writerian has spotted in the other thread and i will add at some point. I'm encouraging UK treasure hunters to get involved in this hunt - it looks good to me and i've explained one part of the solution below.

If you do an acrostic on that blog you get the message CHEMICAL SYMBOLS MAKE A SORT ORDER Now if you look at the names on the cards and you take the 3rd and 4th letters from each one - these form 2 letter chemical symbols. for example YAHELLER gives HE = helium = 2nd element. RULITON = LI = Lithium = 3rd element. Ignore the elements with one letter like Hydrogen (H). This gives you a way of ordering the cards. Re-order the cards and the Top shield with the dots and dashes becomes a morse message: 38 42 57 N 09 11 25 WETS Its a latitude longitude pairing with the letters N and W included to spell it out. On google earth it leads to either the sea south of sardinia or lisbon (depending whether the west is positive or negative) and there the trail runs dry - probably needs other solutions to make sense. I expect this is one part of the puzzle solved (and the authors state 12-13 parts). ![]() (As usual) i've written a program to thrash around with the transcription above and output the data into different orders. The rough idea is to use the ordering devices on the shields to re-order the cards and then extract messages from the letters or morse or something else. above are the coloured shields ordered numerical (by the number on the 4th shield). Hopefully more people will join the solution effort and we can get a sub-forum for this one. I've requested one but i think Cthree & Co may be on holiday? |

Hiya T.I.M,
Thanks for the post. I got the same answer as you, but as the author has deliberately separated the W from ETS in the Morse Code message, I'm guessing that there is a reason for this. Could be ETS = Earth Tracking System? Writerian |

Arranging the clans alphabetically orders the first shield into a morse longitude latitude pairing too. This time you'll land in Edinburgh. Writerian |

good stuff.
i'll try your suggestions tonight. so do you think all the puzzles are re-orderings to make morse long/lat pairings? i've been trying to get the right hand notches into an order but it hasn't worked yet. there are 84 squares, 84 triangles and 84 slits (including blanks) so looks like there might be enough information for 3 orderings here. or maybe combine left and right side shapes to make 3 orderings. eg. left and right squares, left and right triangles and left and right slits. |

ok, i can confirm Edinburgh & Ottawa.
Strange how the first 4 cities we've found anagram to LOVE! Perhaps the solution is a 12 letter word/phrase. Which may be guessable without all the parts as the author says. To win you'll need to explain each of the 12/13 steps including the harder puzzles. So if there are 12/13 parts and we have 4 the other 8/9 candidates are...6 notches + 2 coloured shields + final anagram? other things not used so far Military Rank, Card Colour, Gender, background colour, speed, combat, weapon, armour although those last 4 are used in the game. ---- |

Hmm,
I've tried a few other arrangements without success. So I think we might have exhausted the simple rearranging scenarios. I seem to recall reading in the blog that they are looking for a single answer. The answer is more than one word, but not enough to fill a postcard. So yes, it could be that the answer to each puzzle is the co-ordinates of a place and then we have to work out what to do with that info once we've got it. Just re-read the FAQ where it says everything is important and the game got its name Quote:
The border is mystifying me at the moment too - will let you know if I make any progress with it. Writerian |

SteveMainPrize,
Hello, I'm enjoying your puzzle. Is there any chance you could post an image of the poster & leaflet used at the game convention? You mentioned they contained clues on your blog, and I won't be able to attend the conventions. Thanks Writerian, on the notches it seems that all the orange cards contain 12 notches - 3 per side, and only 8 of the blue cards do. Not sure what this means but it looks interesting. on the colored shields I've checked and both shields use exactly the same set of 84 unique combinations, but in a different order. If you order the cards like so shield 3: A B C D .... shield 4: B C D E .... then 73 form a loop. the others form four small loops, length 5,2,2,2 - these can be translated to morse and the most likely permutatations are the letters M A I L Unfortunately the 73 don't form morse as the letter breaks are off. |
