CHECKERBOARD TANGRAM - RATTLESNAKE
1. Create grid over entire illustration by drawing horizontal and vertical lines through each flower center. 2. Shade in alternate squares to create checkerboard pattern over entire illustration. 3. Draw lines extending from cut centers of one-petal flowers to establish tangram pieces. 4. Arrange checkerboard tangram pieces into rattlesnake as shown.

PARTIAL LONGITUDE
W 118 15 12 can be read from the vines. The numbers vary in height, and foreshortening the clue can make it easier to read these numbers. The longitude crosses Rattlesnake Park in Los Angeles.

FULL LONGITUDE AND LATITUDE
The rough longitude, W 118 15 12 is given in the vines. Rattlesnake Park is narrow strip, and runs East-West. Consequently the only rough latitude between W 118 15 12 and W 118 15 12.99 which falls across Rattlesnake Park is N 38 06 28. In Google Earth, Longitudes and Latitudes can be given as DDD MM SS.xx where D Degree, M Minute, S Second, xx tenth and hundredth of second At this point the longitude and latitude are: W 118 15 12.xx N 34 06 28.xx The following numbers are given by the flowers: 1 1 1 1 2 2 3 3 3 4 4 4 5 5 6 6 7 7 And a 0 is suggested by the odd green bud in the illustration. The following numbers can be matched: 0 1 1 1 1 2 2 3 3 3 4 4 4 5 5 6 6 7 7 W 118 15 12.xx N 34 06 28.xx This leaves two unmatched 8s in the lat/long, and the following numbers: 3 3 4 4 5 6 7 7 The 8s can only be made up in one way. Neither the 7s nor the 6 can be used because there is no 1 or 2 to make up to an 8. Consequently, the 1st 3 pairs with the 5 to make the first 8. The 2nd 3 cant pair with anything, so the 1st 4 pairs with the other 4 to make the 2nd 8. We now have: W 118 15 12.xx N 34 06 28.xx With the following numbers remaining: 3 6 7 7 The first x in the Longitude cannot be a 6 or a 7, as it would place the point on the concrete sloping toward the river. Consequently the Longitude is: N 34 06 28.3x The Longitude and Latitude pair is now limited to the following three options: W 118 15 12.77 N 34 06 28.36 W 118 15 12.67 N 34 06 28.37 W 118 15 12.76 N 34 06 28.37 It may not be important to nail the exact Longitude and Latitude, because the possible lat/long pairs fall in a small area (The size of a tree).

THE BIKE RACK
There is a bike rack in Rattlesnake Park in the vicinity that matches up with two arcs in the illustration. I'm unclear how this is used.

DODGER STADIUM - BLUE DIAMOND
The petals of the flowers are oddly shaped. The explanation seems to be that a two-petal flower matches up to two curves in the nearby river. When matched up, the nearby green fairy points to Dodger Stadium. I think this is a clue that the prize was a 'blue diamond.' OTHER INTERESTING STUFF I won't go into too much detail on these: 'LA' can be found in the vines. There are various animals i(including another snake) in the vines suggesting the nearby LA Zoo. There is a skull in the vines suggesting nearby Forest Lawn Cemetary. The flowers are arranged in a duck/bunny illusion, which may suggest the nearby Hollywood Hills as seen in Google Earth from above. A part of the vines match up to the trails in the adjacent lot. Not sure why. Two curving vines match up to an off-ramp and on-ramp in the adjacent interchange. Not sure why. IN CONCLUSION I enjoyed the first hunt, and continued to pursue ATT Clues #3 and #4 after the second book came out. It seemed much easier than trying to get traction in the second book. I hope you found the above discussion interesting. I appreciate Mr. Stadther's efforts in producing his treasure hunt.
