The reason people are saying bumble bee is because that's what it's called on the official ATT site:

Just thought that I would see if anyone agrees with me. I think the bee is a carpenter bee and not a bumble bee as has been suggested. Carpenter bees tend to live in wood, hence the trees....

it is also called a bumble bee on page 115 in the book.
I also think it is a Carpenter Bee. I spent some time researching it. It doesn't look like any of the bumble bees I've found. The closest bee I've found is the Carpenter Bee.
