Thread: This is TERRIBLE! Don't let this happen to you! PLEASE READ!

First of all my chat name is "katiebug2." My husband is the one that hunt880au was talking about.

I cannot explain what I am feeling right now. I am just SICK!!! I am shaking all over, my stomach is in knots and I think I am going to throw up.

My husband and I collaborated with hunt880au on the bee puzzle. We worked out the exact location, which as you all know by now was in Santa Rosa, NM. It was decided that my husband would be the one that would go look since I had to stay home with my daughter and hunt880au was unable to go himself.

We booked the flight at 8:00am on Friday morning. My husband drove to the airport and hopped on the plane, which left at 10:30am. He arrived in Amarillo around 4:30pm. Got his rental car and drove two and a half hours to Santa Rosa, arriving at 7:00pm. He went straight to the overlook and began his search. After about an hour of searching at the overlook he noticed an "Overlook Path" behind him. By this time it was raining, but he continued to look anyway. He started to walk down the path when it started POURING, there was lightning flashing all around him. He went back to the car to check his map, he got out of the car to go back and look and left the car running. The car then locked him out. He tried to flag someone down to help him but no one would stop. Finally a State Trooper stopped to help him. While waiting for the tow truck to come my husband told the ranger a little about the book and what he was doing, never thinking that would come back to be a HUGE mistake. After the ranger left he walked back down the trail and found where he though the token should be, but there was nothing. The tow truck came, unlocked his car. He still continued to look, back at the path. It was pitch black, it was still storming like crazy, he fell into a cactus, his cell phone wouldn't work. . .so he decided to go home(around 12:30am).

He drove the two and a half hours back to Amarillo. Got there about 3:00am, slept at the Motel 6. Woke up at 6am to catch his flight back home and finally got home around 2:00pm.

Then, the HORRIBLE news came...

hunt880au called us to inform us that "some" state trooper's wife(hmmm...I wonder who that state trooper could be???) had gone back with a metal detector and found the token, not knowing ANYTHING about the book, jewels, code or anything.

I must emphasize here that I am not upset about the token(I mean, of course we would have LOVED to have found it). What I am mostly upset about is the fact that someone, totally undeserving, got the token that we(with the help of hunt) had worked so hard for. We spent a lot of, time, money, and energy on finding it.

We understand that it was my husbands mistake for saying anything about it at all. That was actually the last thing I said to him before he left, was that he should not tell a soul what he was up to. But in that moment of desperation, cold, wet, tired, and locked out of his car in the middle of the desert in the pitch black, during a thunderstorm, that he told someone he thought he could trust (an officer of the law, no less) what he was up to.

I just HOPE, with all my might, that the woman that found it does not find the solution to the puzzle and does not qualify to receive the token. We wouldn't have been as upset if the person that found it would have been a fellow "Trover." It just defeats the purpose of the entire book.

When my husband called my to tell me that he couldn't find it and was going home, I told him that it did not matter that he couldn't find it because at least he got to have the experience. And that when our daughter was older he would be able to tell her the story of how Daddy went on a real treasure hunt to find her a real treasure. And we were comforted by this.

So please hear me when I tell you this is not about greed, but about preserving the sanctity of this book and this experience. I write this to you all to inform you of what happened to us, and hopefully preventing it from happening to you. So when you go out to find your treasure, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, tell a single living soul what you are doing, no matter WHO it is, Cop or not.
