I have a question for the Steinitzians. There was some discussion by a fellow poster who felt it was implausible (for lack of a better word) that one would basically have to jump thru several hoops; e.g. cipher text to Caesar shift to anagram the result. Not saying one would have to do ALL that, and my brain is fried right now - (trying to get out of here for a 3000 mi 10 day road trip!) - but - did we not have to ANAGRAM the results of various ciphers in the Search for the Third Urn? First solve the cipher, then anagram the results to get the true solution ?? Is that such a stretch ?? IOr...does that type of puzzling indicate the puzzle master is basiically producing shoddy work ?? As a newbie to puzzling in the first place,,,I have no clue. Literally.

Default Got some info re: the new Puzzle...

I got an email from Mike M. today - Steinitz Puzzlers mod - and he sent me all the pertinent info re: what websites to check out for a new puzzle.

I will be happy to forward my fellow Steinitzians the email, and a few others that Mike M. authored as well. Just send me your email addy via PM here.

You can check the Steinitz Puzzlers forum for the pertinent info too. A couple of us have posted some of it there. If you want the rest of the detail I have...just a little background actually...PM me.

Woo Hoo !!!! Sounds exciting...and with ATT and this new one,,,well let's just say I'm saving for therapy.

there is a series of Ginkgo trees near a military base...Do you think that this is viable? With the military formations called out by the dragonfly etc...

Hey amatwrestler, nice to see your post. If I had two or three significant matches to a specific place that was near me... I would go check it out, why not?

Chp 3: Spider, tucked behind the hem of the web she had woven across the mouth of the knothole in the ginkgo tree, waited.

As far as I can tell, this is the only mention of the ginkgo tree in the entire story.

Go for it! and Good Luck!

Default THE POSTER GOT DONE !!

If any of the old Steinitzians are still around,,,, I just wanted to let you know that the POSTER that we all gave our input into got DONE, got SENT, and the PMs LOVED IT !!

I received a very nice email from pking10185 and apparently he and benchristy put it together and got it mailed out to all the PMs.

I was soooo pleased to hear about it. There is some news on the old forum about the effort. I hadn't checked in for a long time, but it did my heart good to know it really did happen,,,,and that there are at least two guys who made sure the rubber really did hit the road !!!

    Hunnytree,
I believe he is one and the same. Check out this post. I'm not involved, just a butt-in-ski.
