Default Post for any animal rights supporters...

I am someone who is very interested in preventing animal cruelty, etc. Although I do belong organizations devoted to this cause, I am not, by any means, an "over-the-edge" activist who would do anything violent or illegal, etc. I just have a heart for animals, as I know many of you do, and it makes me physically sick to hear about and see the abuse that people senselessly inflict upon animals. (I pretty much cry every time I watch Animal Cops on Animal Planet.)

Anyway, thus far my only support for these causes has been financial, but I saw this article on CNN.com and decided to write to Kraft expressing my distaste for this product and its marketing... it seemed like an opportunity to speak to a large American corporation and possibly have an impact.

I am not here to start a debate, impose my values on anyone, nor induce any sort of guilt. I just saw this article, which affected me, and I thought I would post it here for anyone else who may have a similar reaction to it. Please do not "flame" me for sharing this, as I'm just trying to raise awareness for an issue that is important to me. Again, I'm not trying to convert anyone or offend anyone!

If you feel moved to share your opinion with the Kraft executives about this issue, you can do so here:

Thanks to those of you who took the time to read this!

    Default Thanks

Thank you for posting this. Everyone here has interests and passions outside of the ATT book. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention and I have contacted Kraft regarding the newest candy they have begun to market.

Thank you for your care and consideration toward animals and undoubtedly other humans.

Thanks so much, Jennifer! Hopefully enough people will be inspired to write, and we'll see a change!

    Default email reply from Kraft

Just wanted to share with everyone an email I received in response from Kraft. Looks like we made a difference this time!

"Thank you for taking the time to contact us on this matter.

It was certainly not our intent to offend anyone with this product. As of
February 25, 2005 Kraft Foods Inc. has decided to stop production of TROLLI Road Kill gummi candies.

In hindsight, we understand how this product could be misinterpreted, and we respect that point of view. As a company, we take our consumers' comments very seriously and, in this case, decided that the best course of action is to stop production of this item. Please know that you may see the product in the marketplace for a period of time, until inventories are depleted.

Once again, we appreciate you taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention.

    Default Road Kill Candy

I think it's ridiculous that anyone took offense to "roadkill candy." If you look at it from a "freedom of speech" point-of-view, one need not purchase this candy if they didn't agree with it. Or, if you must, boycott Kraft. But, for those who would LIKE to eat roadkill candy, let them!

I received a very similar email from Kraft... I think it was less than 24 hours after I wrote to them. It's nice to see that consumer opinions are still worth something!

PS - I think it's ridiculous when someone makes a post explicitly disregarding the original poster's intent..... TO NOT START A DEBATE.

    Hi Sue,

No, I meant for it to refer to my following post.

I had written a post, but then I wanted to quote someone else, but it wouldn't let me delete it and start over... so I just wrote "see below."

    Thanks for asking, though!
    Jen
