    Default NCAA basketball

Who is everyone picking to win the men's and women's tournaments?
What are your upset picks for the first round?
    Who could not care less?

I'll take Illinois for the men and Stanford for the women champions.

For first round upsets (i.e. picking a 10 seed or higher):
    Chicago regional: UAB
    Albuquerque regional: Creighton
    Syracuse regional: NC State
    Austin regional: Old Dominion

My wife could not care less, that's who.

Over 1,000 miles travelled in search of 1 token.

Tokens found: zero. (no, I don't expect I'll have to edit this)

    Currently working on: Firefly, beetle.

Going solely off Treasure Trove-mascot tie ins (in case you haven't picked up on the avatar, I'm all about the obscure college mascots), you gotta be rooting for the bulldogs, of Gonzaga, and the bees, including both the hornet variety from Delaware State Hornets as well as the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets. I suppose the Old Dominion Monarchs could be worthly of our support, but if memory serves that mascot has nothing to do with butterflys.

Me, I'm resigned to another tournament of high hopes and dashed dreams for the good ol' Penn Quakers. This will be the first year I haven't actually followed them to the big dance -- mainly because I don't think we haven't got a snowball's chance against BC, but also because, thank God, finally something has supplanted college basketball as my number one preoccupation. And by that, of course, I mean ATT.

Now, if only that Morton Arboretum weren't private property, maybe I could justify a little midwest doubleheader -- the perfect combination of treasure hunting and the Cleveland regionals.

I know we've got a lot of Stanford alums on here, too. Notice how I specifically didn't mention the Mississippi State Bulldogs above. They ain't got a prayer against the unstoppable Stanford Cardinal. Or is it Cardinals? Or Trees?

Douglas Fir? Loblolly Pines? Which is it?

    Ouch!

Having just watched "My Architect," that Louis Kahn quote really stung. "What do you want, brick?" Um, well, maybe a gold token?

Well, at least they didn't spare many other teams. If Duke and UNC weren't on the list, I'd have to sic Jet on those turkeys at Slate.

For the record, I don't recall skoldpadda and destructo ever bringing up their SAT scores. At least, not directly. But don't think I missed the hidden binary code embedded in those Amazon.com links.
