Default Interview with Mike Stadther Wed. March 23

I have arranged an interview with the man himself later this month. I'll have about 20 minutes and it will be done online. We spoke about doing more in the future where we could pick delegates and i could bounce them in to each ask a question but that is technically involved so for now we will just do it this way. I'd like for you all to have the oppourtunity to ask a question so the best we can do is have you post them here. Keep them consise. Keep them reasonable. I'll pick from the ones that will hopefully have the most fruitful answers. I'll ask him and tell him who the question is from. No questions like "Where is the Spider?" or "Are you Jet?"--let's keep it cool. He's very nice to take time from his schedule to meet with little old tweleve. Thank you all for your continued support.

I'd be interested in what types of mediums he likes best. The art work in the book appears to be a mix of pen and ink with watercolor.

Please ask him for his educated guess on the total amount of combined time (months, years, decades) that all puzzle solvers world wide have spent on this treasure hunt already. Not actual outdoor token searches, but rather anti-social book and computer work. THX

    Default Question for MS

Some confusion exists among contestants. Should contestants be able to predetermine which jewelled insect they want to search for and then follow a path to find it, or will contestants be surprised at the end to discover which gem their token represents? Is this a contest of skill or a game of chance?

    Default Question for MS

How does he pronounce his name? Is it "stayed there"? If anyone knows for sure how he pronounces his name, please send me a PM. (If I find out, I'll withdraw the question) Thanks

Avoid any questions that can be answered with a YES or NO. Base them on higher order level of questions as described in Bloom's Taxonomy:
    http://honolulu.hawaii.edu/intranet/...p/questype.htm

Ask which search engines are most useful.

Ask which reading level the book is geared to.
    For some enlightening information:
    http://www.policyalmanac.org/educati...literacy.shtml

Ask if mathematical calculations are required to solve the puzzles, and can an average (not gifted), 5th or 6th grade student accompolish them.

Ask him to define and differentiate these vocabulary words: treasure, token, jewel, and jeweled forest creature.
The only token I found was SQUAT!!!

I keep wondering about how involved Stadther's been in other treasure hunts. We already know that "Masquerade" was the inspiration for ATT. chillijilli also posted that he asked Stadther about "Treasure: In Search of the Golden Horse," and Stadther said that he'd come up with a solution for the book that's completely different from the Captain Nemo solution.

So, I guess I have a few questions:

-What was his solution to "Treasure"?

-Did he ever go digging for the "Masquarade" hare or the "Treasure" horse? Was there anything about those hunts that he especially liked or didn't like?

-Has he been active in any other kinds of treasure hunts? "Secret"? "Mysterious Stranger"? Geocaching?

I think this is a great book. I would like to know what was his favorite part of the book that he enjoyed writing the most. Myself i like the fairies.

At the White Plains booksigning, MS said he prefers oil painting for his private work, but the illustrations he did for the book are watercolors.
Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.
