    Default ATT success rate

Well, maybe the jewels are falling too fast, and maybe this will all be over soon. Maybe the spider is way too hard and will take a month of sundays to find. Unless a token drops in my backyard(Starved Rock, I'm looking at you), all I'll have at the end is a book. So, with that in mind, and with tokenlust rearing, I see most of us reminding ourselves how we are, in that give-me-a-break new age way, "All Winners". A few questions to count the people who won, without ever pulling treasures form holes.

    So, an impromptu survey.

    Who here:
    Has found a token?

Did you go outside and look for magical animals somewhere?

What would you have been doing if you hadnt?

Have you found a nearby location that you had never visited before?

Have you decided to return to a token-location for future recreation?

Do you feel the story was magical?

Did you have a fun experience with a child or other family member?

Did you learn something new, about nature?

How about new skills, like code breaking?

Have you discovered other interesting games from this one, armchair hunting?

Do you look at every-day things in a different way now that you know they can contain secrets and treasures?

Do you feel that life is a little richer now, even if you aren't?

Did you introduce someone else to these things?

Was it really about the jewels? You can be honest, because the next question asks:

Does it really matter now if it was?

Are you a better person now in any way? How?

Well, I tried answering my own survey, but not having much chance to participate in this hunt, my answers were, well, quite boring. I score low on the success test

    But, I do think this.
A lot of people are dissapointed, and we all want ways to feel better about it, so we could be rationalising, but think about it: Trees have always been beatiful, our national parks have always been waiting for us, but we've been watching TV anyway. It took the promise of sparkling things, money and fame to get us off our rears, and the lucky 13 will have their sparkles...but what of the rest of us. We get the consolation prize: A new point of view, ,new hobby, maybe a new attitude.

    As honestly as possible...

    Has found a token?

not me, may be on to the firefly but that's another story

Did you go outside and look for magical animals somewhere?

depends, I actually drove 120 miles towards lake darnadelle before changing my mind.

What would you have been doing if you hadnt?

    something more productive

Have you found a nearby location that you had never visited before?

    no, unless I-57 counts

Have you decided to return to a token-location for future recreation?

    no

Do you feel the story was magical?

    no

Did you have a fun experience with a child or other family member?

    no

Did you learn something new, about nature?

    no

How about new skills, like code breaking?

yes, got me interested in some code breaking contests

Have you discovered other interesting games from this one, armchair hunting?

    yes

Do you look at every-day things in a different way now that you know they can contain secrets and treasures?

no, I already had a pretty broad perspective

Do you feel that life is a little richer now, even if you aren't?

    no

Did you introduce someone else to these things?

yes, and their responses would be less positive than my own

I am left with more questions than answers. I feel that if I would have stayed dedicated since day 1 I may have a token to show. I also wonder what I'm suppose to learn from this? How to balance several projects at once vs how to stay the course until you realize your goal. I guess in the end it's a risk/reward/oppourtunity cost analysis rather than a balancing act between the two. Some things just can't be done part time... atleast not by me.

Was it really about the jewels? You can be honest, because the next question asks:

no, it was about trying to solve the puzzles and create a memory (which can be done without solving the puzzles, but as it stands, I have failed at both... the only memory I think I will have at this point is my attempts to try creative approaches to puzzles created by a 1-trick puzzlemaster who incorporated little from the story)

Are you a better person now in any way? How?
