Default what was the key that started everyone finding them?

I bought the book along time ago , like most of you. I had given up. Then I saw and heard people were finding them.

It seems they all started being foound the same time. Who was the catalyst for this? Surely someone posted the cypher that all ran with.
    Thanks

Kinda goes right along with an idea to make a *Sticky* for each solution, page included, for each creature ... hmmmm?

I think the combined knowledge contained online in these forums reached a "critical mass". The puzzles were too difficult for any of the readers to solve independantly. But once the first was found, the correct ideas were confirmed.

Too bad that 6 other tokens suffered from conceptually similar methods.

It is like one of those brain-teazer puzzles you would find at a gift shop. They seem impossible for a while, but once you know the trick, the solution is way too easy.

I can only hope the Spider puzzle is different.

I believe it was Packimocity who first posted the Rickett's Glen location for dragonfly. Once you had the location it was extremely easy to reverse engineer the solution. And the rest is history.

Maybe I'm wrong and it was someone else who first posted the RG location, but whoever it was, that really got the ball rolling. I keep wondering if Pack had actually found the dragonfly token, and not let the cat out of the bag, whether he would have been able to take the A-Z 5x5 method and solve all the other puzzles without anyone else having a clue. At any rate, I'm glad that he at least nabbed grasshopper -- along with jurzey and kristen (or princess grasshopper, as I think she now goes). If Pack was indeed the person who cracked this thing wide open, he more than deserves it.

I think Pack had the clues deciphered, but it was not he who leaked the solution. I think several people knew the decoded clue before it was leaked. Cooper threatened to leak it and gave everybody a two week deadline to find the token. Then hollidaze posted pics of the park, and quakrspecl quickly named it.

The "falls trail sign" part of the clue was ambiguous. The next big clue was to realize the importance of the vine map. By that time, quite a few people knew the decoded clue, but not so many knew about the map.

Pack, I should have taken you up on your offer to meet there and team up that Sunday. My bad.

Um... If you want to thank "instrumental" people, thank Mr. Whiskers. He was the one that posted the method to decode the main clue.

Rusty, did Mr Whiskers post that on Tweleve or the message board whose name we dare not speak? Sorry if I incorrectly attributed the dragonfly solution to packimocity. The chronology of how this whole thing was blown open is still very confusing to me.

Oh well, back to spider. Seems like we've only got a few more days before this puppy is gone. Clock's a tickin'.

I think Mr. Whiskers posted the method for decoding the leaf veins first both here and on the other forum. He and another person decoded the leaf vein clue, but did not post the solution. Pack had the solution also, but did not get it from Mr. Whiskers. I don't know if pack did it himself or in collaboration with others. To me, it seems like there were at least two groups of people who had the solution and it grew from there. I think Mr. W was the first one to post "hey, there is a 5x5 matrix code in the leaf veins on page 44". He also posted lots of ideas on doing the decode. The only real trick then was to figure out the order of the leaves. I was able to add a correct map overlay for the vine map, but of course we did not share that info either.

Maybe pack can add info on the other half of the story. I have no idea how elorhir came up with his info.

Not to cast any aspersions, but the solve was readily available within the chat logs for much of the week preceding the weekend of elrohir's find. Anyone with access to the /show 5000 command in chat could have had the solve.
