    Default I'm so tired of...

Complainers, impersonators and grouches. This hunt has become a mockery of what was intended. It is a sad world we live in.
People and squirrels are very different. Most people will not argue that. But I find that there is one situation in which they're very similar. And that is: when I am driving towards them in my car.--

    Bellykitnitching? I'm sure I don't do that...

But seriously. I would like to raise a glass to all the treasure hunters out there both known and unknown who have enjoyed the thrill of a small discovery. Remember how much fun it was when you first figured out the original poem page by page?

The tiny accomplishments, the sense of camaraderie, the ability to hold a thought longer than usual... it's all been good for me. I thank not only Michael Stadther for hosting the hunt, but also the folks on Tweleve for creating this forum and for letting us voice our opinions in the spirit of a true old-fashioned debate. We don't always agree, and we certainly won't all get tokens, but I've enjoyed the experience. A lot.

Kudos to Destructo, Cat, Sue, and CThree for a job VERY well done!

    Default to cabunk...

Sometimes when it gets too depressing I start at the beginning and read the early posts....before anything was found. Read the cool congrats everyone sent to Elrohir when he got the dragonfly. Never let the bickering get you down...happens in all families!

Maybe I can let it go better because I've had years of experience on message boards.

Some of the nastiest stuff came out in women's sites, where they just *can't* not post to something.

I've seen some pretty ugly breakups, where members storm off in a huff and start their *own* sites, which usually fail because anger doesn't make interesting reading for long.

So when I see the occasional mean post, I usually chalk it up to a bad day and try to find out the *why* behind it.

    We're down to 3 tokens.

    Tensions are high.

Some people can temporarily lose sight of the fun and frustration makes them irritable (irritating? ) Give them some time and they'll miss us enough to play nice.

This has been a really fun experience for me. I've learned a lot, I've played obsessively with the book, and I've met all of you.

I even got to take this book and open the imaginations of kids at my daughter's school.. how cool is THAT??

just something to note.. you started a thread complaining about all the complaining that is going on.. counterproductive?

as for me.. every darn tree I walk by I'm trying to see if it looks like something in the book and if there are knotholes in it.. it's a bit ridiculous.. but i've had fun.

I like to play the devil's advocate no matter which side it is.

Default Take heart...not all stories end badly....

I just saw this post from ccord49 (ANT token finder)

Yes, Cavefish is a co-owner. I spoke to him on Tuesday and we've agreed to share the jewel. He definitely deserves it because he did solve the puzzle before me, but was simply unable to locate the token in the tree. Although we did not collaborate on the solutiion, after I solved the dandelion code, I contacted him and he confirmed that he had arrived at the same solution. He also confirmed that the tree that the fairy was pointing to looked exactly like the one pictured on p. 76. In retrospect, without his confirmation, I may not have been confident enough to get on a plane to Utah the next day. Moreover, if the token had not slipped down beyond reach, he likely would have found it a few days before me, and I never would have entered the picture. I believe in giving credit where credit is due, so I have absolutely no problem with sharing the jewel with him.
This just goes to prove that there are definitely good, decent people out there, not that I ever doubted it!

    Happy hunting,

    hollyhill
