    Default Cat Avatars

Looks like many of us are proud of our kitties and like to show them to the world through our avatars.

Mine is called Rollie, and he was a nice Maine Coon who passed a couple of years ago. He was the only cat I ever met who would fetch on command like a dog (his favorite toy was a rabbit's-foot keychain).

He passed due to FIV, basically the feline version of AIDS. This is spread by cats fighting and sharing food/litter facilities. If you adopt a cat into a household with other cats, ABSOLUTELY have the new animal tested for this (and Feline Leukemia) before introduction. Also test regularly if your cats are "outside" cats and interact with strays. FIV does to cats what HIV does to humans, and trust me, it's not a good way to lose pets.

Anyway, enough of the downer stuff. Please post here with your kittycat avatar and tell us about your furry friend!

This is my little girl, Trinity. She's about a year old now. It's strange....I had an older cat named Roman who was getting sicker and sicker with chronic renal failure and the day that he left me at the vet's office (All Saints Day), Trinity needed a home. And she found one.

I had Roman for over 10 years, and I had already decided that I just couldn't come home to an empty house for very long, and would get another kitty.

I didn't get her to replace Roman; I hoped she would help ease the pain of losing him. It's my experience that cats just know when you need them; she arrived in my life just when I needed her the most.

She's such a different energy, and has her own little personality: she likes to fetch, sleep under covers, and only eats from the left side of her bowl!

Crazy? Maybe a just a little, but she makes me smile every day!

Sorry but I am going to have to choose option z, I do not want any cats. I am not a cat person and my hubby and I are both allergic to cat dander. I am a dog and fish person. I spray water at cats when they come into my yard because I don't want them getting on my lawn furniture or chasing away my birds at the bird feeders.

I was attacked by a feline insurgent back in Janurary here in Iraq. Several lacerations and bites to the hand and wrist made me a very unhappy camper.

Because animal control picked up the captive the next day, they were not informed that I had been attacked, the bad kitty was led away. I saw a medic that night and got some anti-biotics to prevent a bacterial infection, just incase.

The medic told a doctor, who called animal control, who said the cat passed away. Since they didn't know I was bitten, they incinerated the body.

I got 30 injections that night. 27 to the hand and wrist. 1 in each cheek, not my face if you know what I mean. 1 in the arm. 4 more injections over the following month.

Did you know that the hand is the second most sensitive part on the male body. I found out during injection #1 and was reminded 26 times.

I am fine now though, altough I am now deathly afraid of water and keep coughing up fur balls. I don't know where the fur came from though. HAHAHA

    Default My kitty

This is Grace. She is just over a year old, and the sweetest little darling.

She just loves other cats, people, and people-food. Not to keen on dogs, though. We also have another cat - Greta, a dog - Bailey, and an iguana - Neo. Anyone in the Orlando area looking to adopt an iguana?

Man, Cat's have nasty nasty mouths... ripe with deadly nastiness. I saw an episode of animal rescue on Animal Planet a few years back where this woman tried to rescue this cat that had been impaled through it's thigh onto an iron fence. She held the cat up to take the weight off the impaled leg and the cat went to town on her had. The lady had so much infection -- almost instantaneously -- that her hand blew up and they had to cut all along each finger like the seam of a glove.

She almost lost the hand and she'll have severe arthritis in every joint in her fingers, but she came out of it along with the cat. Not even her cat.

God, reminds me why I like dogs.
