Default I am writing a paper on treasure trove.

I have to write a paper on something documented for my communication criticism class and i thought it would be a great idea to write it on the treasure trove. but i was wondering if anyone can help me with some info for my paper.
    how many copies were sold?
when was the first token found(specific date)?
when was the last token found?
Is there any controversy surrounding the book?
and, any other bits of information would be great. I am a horrible writer and i would love to get a good grade on this paper. and i thought this would be a great topic to write about because it is so interesting.
    thanks

Wow, cool idea for a paper.

I have to run, but before I go, I'll give you some places to look.

The first token (Dragonfly) was found by Elrohir on this board.
The last token (Pook) was found by greenprincess, searcher, and shirleylock

You can find all the finders here: http://www.tweleve.org/

Clock on their names to be taken to their info page where you can PM them or e-mail them if they made their e-mail public.

There were plenty of controversies along the way. Right at the beginning, a user on quest4treasure (the board we sprung from) named "Jet" claimed to have found 3 or 4 of the tokens and he actually made clay models which he affixed to a golf ball and hit into a frozen lake in Ney Jersey in protest.

He didn't find anything in reality. There were others like him on the ATT board, but no one here was that stupid or cruel.

After all the tokens had been found, people wondered why there were no tokens on or near the west coast.

Why were some of the tokens hidden in holes that were really hard to get to (too high, filled with gunk and water)

State park employees prevented people from getting to some of the tokens.

One of the tokens was only found after it was shop-vaced out of a tree that had already been searched 100s of times by Twelevers.

There's a thread on here called "Consolidated Solution Details" that has a good list of all the finds and who/what/when/where. Members of this board have created a great site with only solution details here:

    http://www.attsolution.com/

    Good luck on the paper.

Some other interesting stats: MS said that he originally printed 40,000 copies of ATT, but had orders for 100,000 the day after he appeared on the Today Show with Katie Couric, announcing the book's publication. By the time I met him for his second Today Show appearance for the finding of the first token, he told me that about 300,000 copies had been sold. Within a few weeks, I think that number skyrocketed to something like 500,000 or 600,000. I'm not sure what the current tally is.

Oh it may well have gotten that high, the 600,000 number would have been back in June. You may want to contact ATT to ask for a current number.
