Just thought I'd throw this out there for any "teachers" or other interested folk. I teach 4th grade in Southern Oregon and have had the "hidden treasure" bug my whole life. (thanks dad) I really got in to ATT this past year with my 8 year old son.
This year I decided to do a treasure hunt for my 4th grade class, to spark higher level thinking skills and teamwork. Also, to just have some plain old fun!
If you are interested in checking out the hunt, most of it is online on my classroom website:
http://www.grantspass.k12.or.us
-place curser on "schools" and navigate to "Redwood School."
-in the upper left hand menu click on "teacher pages."
-find and click on "4th Mr. Clark"
From this point you can follow the links in the left hand menu under my name. There are some "hidden" clue links that only activate after you get to certain pages. If you follow them in order, you can see the entire hunt so far. (except for the yet to be found clues.)
The kids work in teams of 4. After so long, I'll post the next clue on the website simply to catch up the rest of the class. (Some teams get farther than others.) I always give the teams that are ahead plenty of time to try and solve things first before I post the next clue. All the clues were placed well in advance.
Anyways, I just thought I'd share. If there are any teachers in here, I know how things can get in the middle of the year. Doing this treasure hunt has helped to spark imagination and fun in my classroom. (not only for my students, but myself as well!) Enjoy!
