Default SueLough's boys having their heads shaved for a good cause

    Hi all-

My boys are having their heads shaved for St. Baldrick's Day. St. Baldrick's is a nationwide event and the proceeds go to combat childhood cancer. This is Mick's 3rd year (he's 12) and Tommy's 2nd year (he's 6).

If anyone is interested in sponsoring the boys, here is the link:

    http://www.stbaldricks.org/ShaveePho...umber=15333244

You can read all about the event there, and you can also register from that link if you are interested in participating in an event near you!

    Thanks-

    Sue

Pay It Forward is a great concept (it's a movie, for those that are unfamiliar).

Thanks, Spidey and Moscow, for sponsoring the boys too!

    Default Pay it forward

Oh my gosh! Guys, I love that movie. Remember when my brother-in-law died Christmas day? That was the movie we were watching when they call to tell me. Its a wonderful movie and has a great social lesson for everyone and a good example to follow.

FYI: Did you know the bum that the little boy takes home with him in that movie is the one who plays Christ in The Passion of the Christ?

I think we could start our own tweleve.org Pay it Forward.

    Default Pay it forward

Sue, I think you are right. I think the whole world could us a little pay it forward. Sad part is it doesn't always turn out to be a good thing. People start getting their feeling hurt, someone feels left out, etc. I've tried to pay it forward all my life, I just didn't know there was a name for it until I saw that movie the first time.

I'm not a big fan of Walmart per se, but in college we studied their marketing theories and concepts. One of the things I remember was they felt within the company if you knew of a problem, you owned it. You may not be the one to fix it, but until you dropped it into the respective hands, you owned the problem.

Another professor gave us a challenge to do what he called reciprocity credits. He felt if you do a favor for someone, you are already a "credit" ahead of needing a favor. Thus, when you need them to reciprocate, you already have a favor paid ahead before you ask. If you don't have one paid ahead, you don't have the right to ask. Great concept also that I've tried to do.

So you see, college does pay off kids. In more ways than just the books you are plugging into your head. My professors made a huge impact on my life.
