    Default British Comedy

I am a HUGE british comedy fan and I wanted to see if anyone had any good recommendations of stuff I haven't heard of. I bet Mark could help out on this!

    I currently know of:
Monty Python (who doesn't know about this)
    Little Britain
    Ricky Gervais

I am a huge fan too! The channel BBC America is the best! We had it when we had a satellite dish, but had to switch to cable when the nearby trees grew a bit, and our cable company won't carry it yet.

Here are a few of my faves:

    Absolutely F abulous
    Chef
    Fawlty Towers
    Father Ted
    Keeping Up Appearances

Cracker - not comedy, but a really great crime drama

    Sue
Whatever I feel like I wanna do. Gosh!

Now that you mention it. *smacks head* I do have BBC On Demand.
It's a channel offered thru Time Warner Cable. Every month they put up new shows. Like Monty Python Flying Circus Episodes 24-36 and I can watch it. I totally forgot I had that channel. I will definately be checking it out when I get home! *smack head again*

It was a short series, but I found The Young Ones entertaining.

I thought Red Dwarf to be one of the best comedies I've ever seen.

    Just seen this thread.

I don't know if you can get:

    The Britas Empire (Chris Barry)
    The Office (Gervais)
The Royal Family (Some of the best comedy ever written)
Dinner Ladies (Nice gentle brilliantly written)
    Men Behaving Badly
Bottom (The Young Ones on acid)
    Catherine Tate (Am I bovvered?)
Extras (More excuciating than "The Office")
League of Gentleman (You'll wet yourself)

Just a few to be going on with.

Speaking of British Comedy...any Eddie Izzard fans out there??
He's one of my favorites. I even got to see him live a few years ago on his "Sexie" tour.

and, hey! How about those British detective shows?
    Prime Suspect
    Wire in the Blood
    McCallum
    Rebus
    Murder in Suburbia
    Waking the Dead
    Touching evil
    Sea of Souls

I used to LOVE "The Young Ones"! My Mom and I used to stay up and watch it late at night on MTV after she got home from work. The British actor, Rik Mayall, was my favorite on the show. He's played in many movies but Drop Dead Fred with Peobe Cates is one of my all time favorites!! My kids and I watch it all the time! Any time a new friend comes to spend the night I know it's popcorn and Drop Dead Fred before bed!!
The PBS stations have a lot of good British humor shows on, too, but I'm too tired to remember what they're called at the moment.
