I am not a mom...but I will tell you what I did for my mom.

I sent her a manicure/pedicure gift basket with a bunch of spa stuf in it...and I gave her a gift certificate to a day spa at a shwanky hotel in Phoenix. 8hrs of pampering...lunch included....she flipped out.

My sister did something rather odd....she bought my mom a deep fryer???
My sister is 20 yrs old....not sure what she was thinking. My mom has never asked for one..didnt really want one. My sister is very random like that.....very smart..but doesnt always show it

I woke up before the kids and had coffee and read for an hour. We had breakfast and then had to go. I spent most of the late morning/ early afternoon hours sitting in the cold rain watching soccer and softball games and then got to go inside to enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate and watch a basketball game. Went to the cemetary to put flowers on graves. Went through a drive thru for dinner(wasn't ABOUT to wait up to 2 hours for a table for 7!! ) and ate at home. Kids gave me lovely homemade cards and hubby gave me a card and a heart locket with a cross in the middle from he and the kids. Talked to my mom on the phone for an hour. Went to a prayer vigil for daughter's friend at the church.
It was hard to feel happy knowing another mother's son may not make it through the next hour.

I will probably never be able to top last years mother's day gift to my mom so I sent her a video about the life of Saint Therese that she's been wanting. Last year, because of a dwindling bank account, I wrote down 365 of my best childhood memories of she and I together...one for each day of the year. I put them in a candy dish that she had been admiring. Needless to say, she read them all at once and called me crying saying it was the best gift ever. My brother and sister's were a little proturbed with me, seeing as they bought pretty pricey gifts!

st therese, the little flower, is bronte's baptismal saint and fills our home with the oiled scent of roses - i long to take bronte to lisieux in france to further embrace her garden of sweet miracles. god bless you and dream of the scent of roses...you are in our prayers....
