Default The Laramie Project: A production by the Harker Conservatory

    Hey guys,

So my school is putting on a production of The Laramie Project, a play about nine actors and their interviews with members of the town of Laramie, Wyoming, following the brutal murder of a 21 year old gay man and the following trial of Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson, and how the this small midwest town of less than 27,000 people deals with not only their problem, but a problem that is evident throughout the world. For more info on what the play is about, please visit:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Laramie_Project

If you live in the Bay Area and/or around San Jose, I'd love it if you came, and hey, guess what? YOU GET TO SEE THE PIRATE ACT!!!!! PM me or post back and I'll get a ticket for you (you have to pay me back and give you directions on how to get to the theatre. I'd love it if some of you came!

PLEASE NOTE: This play contains mature subject matter, strong language, and some drug reference. Please be advised that this play is NOT suitable for those under the age of 12 or 13. Even if you were to accomapny a younger child, I would strongly advise against it, this play is VERY mature.

The play is fairly long, about 2- 2 1/2 hours, with two intermissions.

Please PM me for ticket info if you'd like to come!!!

    Yarr,
    Kraka

    Kraka-
I actually lived in Laramie at the time of the Matthew Shepard ordeal. That was quite the ordeal. It happened within the first few months of my freshman year of college.

PM me if you'd like some of my insights into it.

    Kraka,

Yesterday evening, I went and saw The Laramie Project in San Jose. I chanced in going as I planned to buy a ticket at the door, and I got lucky in getting one; it was a full house, if not sold out. (I'm glad I went early, and got a seat on the center aisle).

You were great. 'Kraka' was not included in the program , plus names were not associated with part(s), so I don't know the character(s) you played. However, all 38 of the actors were great - the set was minimally furnished, so there was a lot of focus on the acting, and everyone did a wonderful job. Consequently, you must have done well.

It's quite a tragic story, and it deserved being developed into a play. I'm glad I had the chance to see it done by such a terrific ensemble of performers.

    Kraka,

The bartender had to be one of the most decent characters in the play.

    You were awesome!

congratulations Kraka! Sounds like an excellent run. Wish I were close enough to have come - I get to see a lot of plays - my kids are interested in theatre - my younger son has a theatre degree and now works for a special effects company and they fly him all over the country to set up fly rigging for theatre productions - he loves it!
There is a lot to theatre and you CAN make a living at it if you love it enough. My Zoe is preparing for the school production of Best Christmas Pageant Ever next month and did Enchanted Sleeping Beauty this last summer.
Keep up the good work - sounds like a powerful play - I hope I can see it somewhere some day

There's an excellent theatre program out this way at Western KY Univ! though likely many out there too - but if you end up out this way let us know
I'll sure check out your work!
