    Default national novenber writing month

    http://www.nanowrimo.org/modules/cja...index.php?id=2

anyone out here ever try this?
we have so many awesome writiers here
last year one of my daughters (Katie) and her girlfriend participated
yep the price is right! = FREE
last night on the way home from ACT testing my youngest, Zoe, mentioned she is consdiering participating this year
as the site says nothing ventured, nothing gained
Katie didn't make the 50,000 word threshhold - but her girlfriend Jen did and they provided her with a single bound copy of her work which Zoe reviewed and titled - its something like
"I came for the car and stayed for the girl"
a really neat story of how she came to this university because her mom bribed her with a Camaro and met my daughter and they both are scheduled to graduated this coming May!
anyway - thought it was worth mentioning to such a group of great people - some of whom I already know have great writing skills - its all about challenging oneself and some of this stuff actually made it into traditional publishing channels
a treasure you can create for yourself kind of thing!
maybe next year I'll try! lol

Well, I signed up for NaNoWriMo. You can see my little icon there in my signature. I don't know if I'll make it all the way through, but I'd like to try. November is going to be a busy month for me at work, so it'll be a challenge. Anyone who wants to friend me, my username is, as always, moscow32.

Best of luck to any other tweleve participants!
I caught you a delicious bass.

I'm in - again. This is the year, I can feel it.

To all those I ignore in the next month - sorry, don't take it personal.

Yeah! Any other takers? BGB, I think that you should do it this year. Don't put off until next year what you could do now! I mean, what if you go on safari early next year and some ferocious wild beast eats your hands. Then what will you do? You'll never get that novel written...

Hmmm. I've been tinkering with the idea. So what's the object here - 50,000 words towards a novel? All in November, right? Do you have to post it on their site as you go or do you write it and post the final product?

    Thanks for the help!

The object is to write a novel in November. The NaNo people consider a novel a lengthy piece of fiction, and have placed the goal at 50K words.

All in November, starting Midnight Local Time Nov 1 (I for one will be asleep!)

There are 2 ways of keeping score. You have to write it on your own machine, and then you can enter your current wordcount on the honor system, or upload the text as a txt file and have their word counting robots count it up for you. At the end, to be qualified as a winner, you do have to upload the document. they suggest that you scramble it, and have given instructions on how to do so.

Sure you can cheat, but they've purchased some high-quality guilt monkeys to plague the cheaters. (No kidding! I read it on their website. )

maybe another year I will try - but right now i have a decent pain med allowing me to actually crochet again - been two years since i could do that
(since car wreck) and I am spending my free time making Christmas stuff my family has missed it! glad tere are others here interested - I have two daughters and daughters' girlfriend participating - so though I am not writing for myself - I take pride in producing writers!
and if my hands are eaten off between now and next year - I'll have to take a crack at that Dragon Speak program I got to change spoken to typed words! lol ( think they used some program like that to translate Memoirs of A Geisha - I watched it with subtitle feature on the otehr day - oh my goodness - very very interesting! lol)
good luck to all the writers - for this year I remain - a reader!
