    Default Mexico City

    Hey all-

I've enjoyed the many threads where peeps share their travel pics. I've been scarce in part due to a work assignment in Mexico, but that has led to some great photos on those days when I can get out and see a little.

Rather than strain the bandwidth here, I posted my first batch of pics to Flickr. You can see them here!

The ruins in these pictures are called the Templo Mayor, and are seriously in the middle of Mexico City, just off of the main plaza. I tried to capture a few pictures where you get a flavor of the old and the new.

The boat pictures are a place called Xochimilco, which is a Mexican version of Venice. For $10, you go out of some canals for an hour and half, and there is a thriving little economy out there. For a few pesos, Mariachi bands will play a song or two for you, while they float alongside your boat. You can get a meal, souvenirs, flowers, plants, just about anything it seemed. And all the while, great boats everywhere! I even found one named Gabi.

The colors around here are so bold and cheerful. That's one of the things I like the most.

This weekend we'll be going to Teotihuacan to see some more ruins.

    Cheers-
    Brady

I just got back from the Pyramids at Teotihaucan. It was great, but you'll have to wait until next weekend to see the pics. I can't get them off of my camera before then.

Thanks for the nice comments, all.

He came up to say hi when we docked the boat at a greenhouse alongside the canal. The guys who were paddling the boat said it was part of the trip, but we suspect they really wanted to stop to flirt with the ladies working at the greenhouse.

Here's the second set of photos from our visit to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan and the National Anthropology museum. Pay special attention to the shirt I'm wearing at the pyramids.
