Thoughtpad is an electronic note-taking and organizing tool. You can insert clips from anywhere, including the web (with some plagiarism warnings). I just spent a few minutes with it, and it was very easy to use. A very nice feature is just how easy it is to share and collaborate with it.

I currently use MS OneNote for most of my notetaking, and Journal for the rest. I don't think I'll switch for now, primarily because I'm a TabletPC user, and wouldn't want to lose the inking and freehand drawing capabilities. I haven't used the collaboration aspects of OneNote at all, so I can't comment on the comparison. (I'd have to go to Vista to do that well, and while my employer is "corporately MS," they are also corporately "anti-Vista" for now.) I think that I'll try to do some importing from OneNote to Thoughtpad and see how much of the source-linking, etc., is correctly retained. And how my ink objects are handled.

Actually, as a new beta tester, that's one of the pieces of feedback that I'll share with Scrybe, ADD INK. : )

I use my TabletPC like a PDA on steroids. Although I've had a PDA for years, the input interface has always been very limiting to me, and its often collecting more dust than my treadmill. There are several books published (and a couple of my nightstand) on organizing with Outlook, Franklin, OneNote, etc., when you have a TabletPC. That's been a big improvement for me, but staying "synced" hasn't worked well as well as I hoped. Basically, if it doesn't get on my Tablet, it doesn't count.

After months of testing those systems, Scrybe is SO EASY in less than 2 hours of use!!! I already have my primary 3 computers synced. And the ability to use either offline or online with the same interface is great! I have a couple of questions that arose from that, and will lead to more beta feedback. Although it sounds like they are already working on improvements in that area.

They are in the 3rd phase of beta testing Scrybe, with a focus on the sharing and collaboration modes. Thus the requirement to get new users by invitation. So perhaps we should try collaborating on a tough puzzle in Thoughtpad, and provide feedback. I beta-test quite a bit of technical software, and I'd like to be a real beta-tester, not just a previewer.

So give Sue, Jean and I a little time to learn Scrybe, and try some joint thoughtpadding, and then let's find a good puzzle to collaborate on. I'll be looking for volunteers then. Both for collaboration and for providing the puzzle.

Sorry this post is so rambling. It's my basic brain spew, unedited, that some of you have been subjected to in chat.

Thanks for giving me the motivation to try Scrybe, Sue.

    lol,

    lizzy

Is this the tool I need to organize my activities? I don't have my own kids but I work with other peoples'. I have troop activities, service unit activities, training events, council events, etc plus personal stuff. Will this sort it all out?

Definitely! It's a personal organizer - I just happen to have a lot of kids schedules to keep track of.

This seems exactly what is good for, ESPECIALLY if key people on those other activities are using it, too. Because you can share just selected categories on your calendar.

I'm a little worried though, about what happens when the beta testing is over. There will be a free version and a paid premium version. In thinking about what would be reasonable to charge for and could be separated off; sharing might be such an item. Or perhaps they will just charge to use over a certain number of monthly syncs or shares or storage space. Who knows? But if this saves as much time for me as it seems now, I'll pay.

    I LOVE the contextual calendar.

I'll post if my opinion changes. Right now I guess I sound like they're paying me.

By the way, Google calendar is in Beta, too. I think Scrybe seems like an easier interface for me. Any of you twelevers using Google calendar beta? I'd love to hear what you think.

Hey, could someone hook me up with an invite? I'd like to give it a whirl. I'm not doing great with the being organized thing, but I'd like to do better. It could probably help me to organize my running schedule and my geocaching events as well, as well as all the other things I get myself roped into.
I caught you a delicious bass.
