Thanks so much to everyone. Your thoughts are very dear to me. I wanted to jump onto the net to check my emails but could not resist checking in with my tweleve family. You thoughts will be kept near my heart for the next couple of days.

    Thanks again to everyone.

You would not believe what I came into when I arrived in Baltimore.

My younger brother (now it is just him and myself within my immediate family ie: bros. sisters. parents) and his wife had even more tragedy in their lives. My sister inlaws uncle had died the friday before my oldest brother died. He was an invalid and bound to either bed, wheelchair or his fav spot - his recliner - the kind that will lift the patient so they can be transferred to a wheelchair easily. The house had an electrical shortage and the chair caught fire immediately - with him in it. He was 84. His wife who is 83 tried desperately to go back inside the house but a neighbor held her back while others tried to put out the fire until the fire dept. arrived. She wanted to hold his hand and go with him. I have to tell you - this family is extremely impressive. I have rarely seen the kind of support that they give to everyone around them. Besides being so traumatized by what had happened to their own family member - they all made time to pay their respects to my family and my brother at the same time.

This has been a very hard week so far and I miss the happiness that this forum has always afforded me. But I always believe that things happen for reasons. And the bad times makes us stronger.

I wanted to pass on a poem I heard while I attended my sister inlaws uncle's funeral. It is worth reading if you don't already know it.

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on his tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came the date of his birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years

For that dash represents all the time
That he spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved him
Know what that little line is worth.

    For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
    That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
    And always try to understand
    The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
    And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
    Like we’ve never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
    Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?
