Domino, I hope you can make it!

Whocares, let us know if you're coming and I'll know what to do with that last post.

If any of you want to move from the NO list up to the YES list, I'll be happy to nudge you up there.

My google efforts tell me that August in PA is in the low 70's, but that seems to be too good to be true. Can any of you locals verify what weather to expect?

It's possible Carol. I would guess 80's myself. Thus far we have had a very cool spring. And if we are near the lake we may just have a nice breeze. I will be picking up some sort of citronella candles to make our picnic area comfy too. I dislike flying, biting, natty thingys in the air. speaking of which................

    whocares!
You coming to the reunion? Or did you just pick the wrong thread to up your posts? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm................... good start! yeah.

State parks are cooler--because they're usually at higher elevation and shaded by lots of trees. Low 70's can actually be the case--there will probably be cooler evening and warmer daytime. HOWEVER.....from my personal experience, I'd say it's more likely that it reaches the low 80's not the low 70's. It will probably be very comfortable for most.

August is almost always hot and humid in this part of the US. That said, we probably have more to fear from thunderstorms than cold. Is there a rain contingency--? Covered shelter, indoor pavilion, etc.?

I lurve State Parks. So Thumb's up for me!

Do the Pennsylvania parks require a vehicle fee? In MI its $6 just to get in (but I mean, $6? That's lunch!)
I caught you a delicious bass.

Bummer! All the pavilions are booked for the 9th. Two are available as of now for the 10th. Here is the park map to download.

    http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/statepar...raine_mini.pdf

    The pavillon availability.

    http://www.pa.reserveworld.com/SiteCalendar.aspx

Pavillon #3 and #4 are available for the 10th. Too bad we can't do it on that day. Pavillon #3 is in the Pleasant Valley area on the map. Looking at it closer - it looks great. Next to the water. Pets allowed. A sunken garden nearby.

If the 9th is set and the 10th just won't do for everyone - I would need to get there early - hope for no rain - and scoop up lots of picnic tables in an area - that hopefully you all can locate when you get there.

    Love those cell phones!!!

ofc I would keep checking in with the park to see if there was a cancellation on the 9th. But we need to set two things very, very soon.

    The Date
    The Place

I would love to set both so I can start reserving stuff.

    Thanks,
    Jean

    OK!

Here is what I decided to do for right now. You all can talk me out of it if you like.

    BUT!

I am gonna reserve pavillon #3 for the 10th. We can still have the reunion on the 9th. I have planned to stay over for the 10th anyway. If there are enough of you, even if you check out of your hotel, clean up your camp site, we can still hang out on Sunday at the pavillon until ya all feel like heading home.

    feedback. please.

    Well...

I can come the 9th, but not the 10th. I'll help you move picnic tables, though.

Sounds like we need a rain plan. Restaurant with a good party room? A spot in the hotel in which we'll stay? Shecrab's tent?

At any rate, we're only a couple of months away. Giddyup.

Go ahead and take me off the "hopefully" list.

AND PUT ME ON THE DEFINITELY LIST!!!!

    I am a complete BONEHEAD.

I deserve a big smack on the forehead here--I just realized that it won't make any difference WHEN our conference is, because this reunion will be on the WEEKEND. My conferences are during the week!! Like, DUH!!!! (Don't laugh at me, please!)

I can come for BOTH days--9th and 10th.
We should do pot luck cookout food for the 10th, at a minimum.
