    right-handed dominant here...

however, as an accomplished (?) pianist/accordionist, the use of the left hand is needed
(although I admit my scales are definitely slower on that hand)

I wish I were left-handed...I like being in the minority/underdog groups!

    Cool Lefty answer

    Hi kids,

I am so bummed I missed this reunion, I made it to Maine that weekend, however I'm not sure if my truck would have made it to Pa.
I'm looking forward to next years though, I want to meet you All.

I am ambidextrous. But a natural lefty. In school they taught/forced me into right handedness, lol my parents freaked out. I'm glad though because I can think differently. I also like to write backwards, it is easy for me. I visualize it first.

    Great thread backgammonbob!!!!

    Peace to All,
    Cheryl

Thanks - i am really being given a lot to think about and going to do some more net research - it does seem like there are a lot of right-brained people here - more possibly than the expected random average -
going to do some more reading about the ambidextrous factor - very interesting!

i do know i am VERY left handed - long ago I put my left hand through a door glass accidentally - when I had my pinky finger stitched back in place and had tremendous bandaging and splint - I had a hard time finding my mouth with a fork or spoon - and that is after having difficulty getting food on the utensil! however as a young girl I always played jacks right handed - (though I think that one was peer pressure)

i'll try to work up a table - or graph of some sort in a few days

things incredibly busy getting my girls off to universities and now in the midst of preparing for my vacation!

Most likely, it's an issue of muscle memory. Your body has been trained for so long to do things a certain way that it just becomes more and more ingrained.

On the bright side, it makes copying the entire bible lefty that much more exciting.

You're correct corgi. I forgot about that. Back in the day (70's) I played competitive tennis in private clubs in the DC/VA/Maryland area. Trained myself to play with both hands. When you play right dominate and then switch on your competitor at just the right time it will throw them off. Did it lots of times. Gives you an edge sometimes. You can see it in the other players eyes. Wondering if they just saw you switch hands or not.

Now I can't brush my teeth with my left hand.

As I've gotten older I find that I am more and more ambidextrous. I blame it on lack of copying the entire bible....nah...never mind...

I actually blame it on playing musical instruments. You can't do that with only one hand--unless you play pipe and tabor. I started playing piano, then guitar, then flute and whistle---and they all take equal involvement with both hands. And both brains. Er, I mean, both SIDES of the brain. Unless you have two heads.

Oh sheesh...never mind. It's late. I'm not even making sense.
