Hmm...I thought Pack knew better than to have a sofa in the same house as a puppy

    to jean:

as corgi noted above, it is difficult fo the puppy to chew the sofa since it cannot fit into her crate when we leave for work....LOL

    to corgi:
    extra points for crate-training, right?
(although, she did polish off a new slipper when I fell asleep watching TV a few nights ago, so bad on the owner there!)

BTW, her separation anxiety is about 1000% worse thatn the collie we raised from puppyhood two yars ago...

    ideas?

    thanks
    pac

We had the same separation anxiety issue with Rocket. We started giving him treats before we left for work. We would have him lay down in his bed next to the couch and give him a treat and then we walked to the door and left. It's seemed to work. I think he wants us to leave now We have a webcam on him all day and all he does is eat, sleep and play

Yes, extra points for crate training

As for her eating a slipper while you were asleep, I suggest taking a rolled up newspaper and hitting yourself with it

With the separation anxiety, I would need more specifics...What does she do when she's left alone? What is your routine when leaving, when returning, where is the collie when Cerise is left alone? How old is she? Where did she come from and at what age did you get her? Is this something new or was it an issue from the day you got her?

Feel free to contact me by PM or elsewhere if this is too much for this thread.

I wanna know what you're doing thinking you can potty train a puppy in winter

I try to get puppies in spring. I had one winter puppy and it was a disaster.
4 am potty trips just ain't happening in 15 degrees.

true corgi, PA Pocono Mountain winters just ain't fun, however....

when we got the collie 2 Christmases ago, the next weeks well into January were autumnal. The pix I have of her remind one of October not January...so we lucked out there

as for the new girl, just one week after getting her, we got one of those freaky (?) 12-inch snowstorms, and yes, those 4:00 AM walkies are not fun....LOL

as for accidents, they have diminished greatly in the last week or so....none in the crate for the long workday (4-6 hours) and none at night....

All of this puppy talk pushed me to do it - I had been thinking about getting another dog for a while - so last month we got Tucker (English Cocker - 5 months old now) to join Rory (Welsh Springer - almost 7 years old). Finally getting around to posting a picture:

Whatever I feel like I wanna do. Gosh!
