thanks for the update mimi, I have also been wavering between kindle and sony e-reader

right now I am jonesing on an i-pod (i-touch) free app...STANZA

I DL books (not every choice in the world, but decent prices) and can read myself to sleep and when I zzzzzzz out, it just drops into the covers until morn...

(a lot easier than rolling over on a 700 page novel!!)

Pac, I gave my husband the Sony for Christmas - he seems to like it very much. He loves the touch screen and the sidelighting of the text. If you want more details from him, I can hook you guys up by email.

    Glad you're so happy, Mimi!

some kind of patent infringement suit filed - may cover the files as well - not just the reader
not sure how this might come down to the individual owners

Discovery sues Amazon.com over Kindle patent

    Mar 17, 1:24 PM (ET)

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) - Discovery Communications Inc. (DISCA) (DISCA) says the Kindle electronic book readers from Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) (AMZN) violate a patent that Discovery registered in 2007. Discovery sued Amazon in Delaware on Tuesday.

Discovery spokeswoman Michelle Russo said the company is seeking "fair compensation" through damages, future royalty payments and legal fees but will not seek an injunction stopping sales of the Kindle.

An Amazon.com spokeswoman declined to comment.

Discovery, which runs the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet cable TV networks, said Amazon.com was "willful" in infringing the patent. Discovery says the patent covers the security of electronic book files.

found it on my excite news page today - I was real close to using some of my tax money for on e- I do audios a LOT - mostly library titles - some cassettes - some cd's and something new called a play-away
I am going to hold off a bit and see what plays out - \
I know after Poloroid lost their suit the film was no longer available after a while - so all were/are useless
