The fence was I first thing I saw at the location besides the sign that told me I was in the right place. The fence is actually quite long, stretching from the overlook down to the water's edge, winding back and forth. The tree that I assumed held the Butterfly was right in front of the fence - it was like looking at the picture in the book. I also searched all along the fence itself but no luck there either.

Well, I made it back home. A 9.5 hour drive EACH WAY (1100 miles total). And now I find out that it's still not reported missing? You guys are killing me! I need closure! Someone find that thing (and at least tell me it's where I looked, but you got there first. pleeeease!)

I may wait on pics until a claim has been made. Of course, it seems like half of Tweleve was there The place was swarming with folks. Good luck on your continuing searches!

OH and regarding the poison ivy... Tecnu is a great product to help prevent poison ivy if you use it soon after exposre. It helps get the oil off you. I used nearly a whole bottle on my exposed skin.

I hear you, Lance. I put about 1200 miles on my brand new SUV, but it was worth every mile. My wife and I drove through the Great Smoky Mts. on the way home - the first time there for both of us - and it couldn't have been a better trip (unless I had that little gold token in my pocket!).

It's a nice tree, and no knothole. I hope the area doesn't get placed off-limits.

Heads up to the metal detector guy. There has been some trouble and controversy over the caterpillar token and the use of metal detectors. It is illegal the park rangers informed the hunters to use any metal detectors in any state or national park. So you better be careful or you might get in trouble.

No problemo, Aprilx. I've been dealing with rangers for years. Had a nice conversation with one at Patton's Run.

Default I feel all your pains

I just got back, and met a few great sets of people down there. According to the reports i would have been way far behind at I looked on Tuesday. and wow alot of stuff was tore up but not so bad, it will be ok... and to the people that thought that one tree on the end behind the fence i dont think so, sure it has that sway at the bottom but, nah, i think A) we are missing something or B) some1 has themselves a token and have no idea what it is, in which a new one would be placed, which means? craziness period, but ok, everything has went crazy over the past 2 days, and my 2 cent on the Cop bumblebee finder is that they deserve nothing maybe something for the child only. but the cop should be put unpaid leave for direlection of duty, none the less abuse of power, and should be denied the prize do to lack of knowledge of what was going on. This is one more reason I have no respect for someone who uses their power for their own gain.
