Default California Gold Hunt suspended indefinitely

    Hello all,

Sad to announce the indefinite suspension of the California Gold Hunt.

We just didn't get enough people registered to make a go of it.

At this point I believe the only way we could return is to do so with enough capital to guarantee a pretty good advertising buy with radio as a component. Unfortunately, that means we need to raise at least $25,000 before we can re-launch.

We were hoping to get enough players on our shoestring ad budget for this past Hunt, but it just didn't happen. Probably bad luck that we also didn't get any "free media" either, in the form of newspaper feature stories and the like.

I do want to thank everyone here at Tweleve for their support. I guess "thank you" isn't enough, but I'm not sure what else to say. I wish it would have worked out better for everyone.

We have issued $15 refunds to anyone who paid $25 for 3 Hunts. If you believe that you paid for 3 Hunts and did not receive a refund, please notify me here and I'll double-check our records, but I'm fairly positive everyone was taken care of.

    Yeah, that pretty much sucks.

I am sorry to hear this. I hope you are able to come back and resume the Hunt, eventually.

    Thanks for all the fun!

it's tough getting people's attention, even for something fun and cheap. For about the cost of a movie or two, a person can get a REAL thrill thinking they might win some money and use their noggin'. I think the high prize amount was a mistake ($2,000 catches my attention). I'm surprised about the radio component - some small stations take ads for as low as $30 for 30 seconds, during off hours. Obviously not KFI, but there's a lot of local radio in SoCal.

The 25.00 was for a series of 3 hunts. Only 1 was completed (May), so he is refunding for the 2 that remained.

    The September Hunt was free.
