There haven't been many posts lately, I hope it is because everybody is busy solving a lot of things and don't have time to post their progress

Something that keeps getting my attention is the reference to the Revolutionary War. Robert Erskine was the Geographer and Surveyor General of the Continental Army, and drew maps covering the northern section of the war. Only one of the maps found in the puzzle is in that part of the country. Coincidence? probably, but something to keep in mind anyway.

Many of Erskine's maps can be found in the Erskine Dewitt Map Collection, which is located at the New York Historical Society. So that is where they are

And the Count thing keeps coming back. What haven't we counted?

Does the punctuation in the story look a little off to any of you? It is probably my imagination, but I really think there is something to be decoded in the story. Maybe , and . for dots and dashes?
It hasn't given me any positive results yet, but in morse without letter breaks it is hard to tell where one letter ends and the next one starts.

I'm still new here and since noone was responding to my posts I assumed you were all just communicating privately. I too have been puzzling over the "revolutionary war" and "count" references with no bright ideas as of yet.

I'm curious about how the background maps factor in (Toronto, Indianapolis, and New York).

I haven't paid any attention to the text thus far, I'll take a look now and let you know if I come up with anything.

    Hi gabi, et al.

I have been out of the country to the land of sun and flavor searching for some Aztec treasure. I spent time on the plane ride on this hunt. The part about Eskine calling himself Count bugged me quite a bit. He comes right out and asks us to figure out why.

I tried to anagram, no luck. I seem to remember trying to anagram that one back in the teaser. The best I could come up with is we are supposed to count something. Or perhaps it is a hint to decode the numbers.

p.s. No, I don't think people are talking privately much. Why bother?

    It's not a place, it's a yearning. It's not a race, it's a journey.

I know there was some talk about anagramming the count's name back during the teaser, and I added a joke with some anagrams in the progress thread.

But what makes me think that anagramming is not the way to go is that back then it was "Count R. Erskine" and now we have lost that R, it is "Count Erskine" or "Robert Erskine".

In case someone has thought of it but didn't go past the thought, there is no "Erskine county"; seeing how many county names we have in the maps, I thought that could be a possibility.
