Anyone want to join up in chat and talk about all of this?

I'm getting the vague impression that the 12 jewels are going to be found via different sorts of puzzles, and that's a good thing. There seem to be some sort of 'triplet clues':

    1. State-highway-mile marker
    2. City-street-number
    3. Hours-minutes-seconds

These are some of the 'triplet clues' I'm referring to.

I'm also curious about missing items. I'm not referring to the stolen items. Are we supposed to find the missing element elsewhere?

Is there a way to determine the actual direction each side of the building is facing? And, why would we need to? What's up with the twelve windows around each floor of the building?

How far down are we supposed to dig?

    More questions than answers,

    Doc

I'm in the tweleve chat now if you want to stop by and discuss anything.

What are the three circles at the bottom right of the blackboard on floor 12?

Chemical structure or constellation or something else?

On the twelfth floor, in the kitchen is a portrait on the wall of a molecule.

I'd very much like to know what that molecule might be if there are any chemists out there.

    Thanks,

    Doc

If we had to determine this I'd use the satellite dish on the 9th Floor. In the UK dish are generally pointed EASTish but it looks like the point WESTish in the US. See here: Satellite dish pointing and aiming calculator for USA

Check to see if this jives with the skyline shown at the bottom of the first page. You can see the sun rising in the background along with one of the faces of the clock on the top of the building. So that should tell us at least which axis is east/west.

Good morning on a bright, sunny day in the Bayou State of Louisiana!

I started work on the twelfth floor last night, and some interesting things started popping up I wanted to share with everyone. I really have no idea how this thing is going to come together as yet, but the individual pieces are.....tantalizing.

Each room and each major clue group appears to have some sort of discrete answer that we are apparently going to combine into some sort of final answer that should tell us exactly where to dig.

    1. The room with the pot and cake in it appears to give the answer SPRING LAKE, NC.

    a. The clues begin with the chair with the SPRING in it.
    b. The next two clues are a CAKE and a LEMON. Swapping their first letters like some sort of spoonerism gives you LAKE and CEMON.
    c. The next clue is a POT on TOP. It's a clue to switch the first and last letters: CEMON = NEMOC.
    d. The final clue is a TV REMOTE. It's a clue to change the 'T' to a 'V' such that REMOTE becomes REMOVE.
    e. I would remove 'REMOVE': NEMOC - REMOVE = NC

    SPRING LAKE, NC

I have absolutely no idea if this is correct or not. I certainly don't think the jewel is hidden there. This answer to this room would only be a part of a bigger metapuzzle hidden on the floor.

    2. The next room is the entry with three pictures on the wall: a ROCK, HE, and SPACE.

    a. It's a rebus puzzle: ROCK + HE + SPACE = ROCKY SPACE
    b. Spoonerism: ROCKY SPACE = SPOCK ERASE
    c. Word puzzle: ROCKY SPACE - SPOCK = RYACE = CAREY?

Could be 'Mariah' which divides into MA RI AH and makes me think Massachusetts - Rhode Island interstate highway, but the final A would have to be transformed to 'I'. Again, not very sure about any of this.

    3. The large group of drawers along the top of the picture has the correct number of columns for the periodic table. If that's the case, the open drawer represents GOLD.

    4. The big machine in the middle with the arrows on it turns TEAS into T'S (as in T-shirts). TEAS + TS = STATES. I think we get the name of three states out of the machine by following the arrows on the machine:

    a. Use the periodic table. Begin with IN.
    b. The arrows read N, N, E, NE, E, E
    c. IN - GA - AL - SI - N - O - F = Indiana/Georgia/Alabama--IS NORTH OF = Michigan, North Carolina, Tennessee

    5. Blackboard puzzles: Each row seems to be a different puzzle

    a. The Mobius loop, the arrow, the chemical formula:

    1) Mobius loop: refers to a clue on a different floor. 'It is forever' on the ninth floor. As someone stated in an earlier post, this is the state motto of IDAHO.

    The MOBIUS LOOP = IDAHO

    2) The Arrow: The rope in the window connects to the window on the 13th floor. There are two flower groups there, one with 13 flowers and one with 9 flowers. This is our old friend the Mi clue.

    FLOWERS = MI
    SELF ROW = MI
    'I' ROW = MI

You know from the periodic table that Mi = Ar. You can reverse the Mi to get what I think we need: Im Ar. Or, 'I am AR'

    'I' ROW = AR ROW = ARROW = MI

    The ARROW = MICHIGAN.

    3) The chemical formula: It's an anagram puzzle.

    C3 H3 O5 N = CCCHHHOOOOON = CHOO CHOO C NO H

Putting the clues on the top row together:

MOBIUS LOOP - ARROW - CHEMICAL FORMULA =

    IDAHO - MICHIGAN - CHOO CHOO - C NO H

The railroad that went between Idaho and Michigan was the MILWAUKEE ROAD.

    C no H: C = THREE. THREE - H = TREE

There's a GREEN TREE ROAD in MILWAUKEE, but I don't know how all of this is going to come together as yet, or if this is remotely correct.

    I'm being summoned to work,

    Doc

PS--the kitchen with its MORTAR and PESTLE made me think the clues here are ANAGRAMS--things that are 'mixed up'. Definitely some alchemy taking place here. A SHOWER becomes HEROES (HE ROWS) and CLOVES, a JAR, and some EYES become BARS.

    Great job nsalon!
Look at the pieces in the Connect 4 game.
There are 3 Red and 7 Black. This struck me as odd, because you would not have these numbers if you were playing the game correctly. (not that kids do).
I checked the roads in CT. I could not find 73, but did find 37 in the western part of the state. There is also a small section called "old state highway 37". The road looks residential, but has a small park in the loop. There is some kind of memorial or plaque there. Thank you, Google Maps.
Please don't go digging there people...

Not sure if the numbers refer to a highway or anything, just some more info.

Look at the pieces in the Connect 4 game.
I've been trying to puzzle over this also. I like your thoughts concerning the checkers. The three red and one black on the floor could also be significant.

The grid is 6x4 which is not standard for a Connect-4 game.
