    Default Additional Clues

Ok, I can't stand to do this on my own any more. I'm joining the fray! So I've gotten my book, and have a few possibilities to offer in addition to all that has been mentioned.

    1. It has been mentioned that the US Capitol appears inside the front cover. Could it instead be the Arkansas capitol building? (http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/ar/images...itol%201_1.jpg)

    2. On floor 12 (which may, incidentally be linked to Arkansas), the pictures in the front area may be interpreted as "Rocky Space" (Rock, He, space).

    3. Then, if the tea-into-tshirts bit is linked to I-40, then anyone care to take a road trip to Little Rock, AR?

Keep up the good work, everyone!

Anyone think that maybe Travis Pupkin may be Roy Dodge's son? Pup (young) kin (related) Maybe Roy was the mastermind behind everything because if the first apartment was an exact replica of Roy's, would Roy's apartment also have the chalkboard drawing on it?

Hey redbutterfly I'm in NYC idk how close that is to you're location. Thanks for the info Doc.... You're brain works in myserious ways.

I was just trying to see things from a different perspective so I turned the book upside down and found something interesting, although I have no idea if it can help us. So the 10th floor has missing elevator now it may relate to the notion of other floor clues. So if you look at it upside down that mark definately looks like a 7... Like maybe it's realted to floor 7 and 6 would be 9 and vice versa. 11 stays 11 and 8 stay 8 idk about the other floors but I thought maybe we can make somethig of it.

Also I took some high resolution photos of the book so of anyone want me to email you the photos let me know. I've been looking at the pics on my phone when I can't bring my book.

O one more thing someone was talking about the red orange purple candles and it got me to write some things down, trying to think like you Doc , and I came up with re orange like rearange ey!? Idk about purple but then I remeber the floor with the apple and orange on the bed and I thought the same thing. I coulbt figure out anything from the cup or mug, dollar, red apple or orange. Just some more insights. It would be nice if we can get a few people in a chat and discuss some clues. There is an IRC channel setup that I've been going to although the server escapes me now.

    Domino,

That makes me feel somewhat better. After working on the row of buildings for over a week, I think I completed the puzzle last night, and I was NOT happy with the result:

    A state, highway, and mile

This was the last thing I was expecting. The book with the green pencil gave a Big Clue about the vertical maze, and I was hoping the buildings would do the same thing.

Since I don't understand what's actually going on with the SHM clues in the main part of the book, I can't say I really know what to do with this one either.

I refuse to go look for something unless I know an exact spot to look. I think we're in the process of correctly solving the various SHM clues in the game, but a single path--which should be for a single numeral--will contain multiple SHM clues along the way.

The SHM puzzles are sufficiently difficult to make me think they are NOT red herrings, but are meant to be collected along the way for some sort of metapuzzle that will reveal the actual dig spot.

    1. The O-HI-O room: You have your state. Each 'room' has its own SHM clues. What are the highway and mile marker here?

(Bear in mind if you find a number attached to a 'Y' it's going to be the highway number for that particular puzzle. 'Y' = WHY = HWY. I'm seeing this particular association on several occasions.)

The rest of that bathroom is a visual puzzle. How would you describe that toilet paper in relation to the toilet?

    FAR, FAR AWAY

The word you need is GALAXY which leads you to MILKY WAY. Your MILE clue is KY and your 'Y' clue is WA.

    2. Nsalon, you're absolutely correct that the 24, 25, and 26 are X, Y, and Z. You already have stated that the three animals are a simple riddle for KANSAS. You have a specific number to attached to 'Y', which is 25. What's your mile clue?

    24, 25, 26 are a riddle.

Its answer is LAST THREE LETTERS.

Collect the last three letters of LION, TIGER, and BEAR.

You'll find EAR REGION, which is where you found the numbers in the first place, which is a nice confirmer you're doing it right.

Jump to the area that has the EYE and the TEETH framed on a wall. Your mile clue is there. I posted the answer to this conundrum in an earlier post.

    3. Bluedevil, definitely ROCKY SPACE. It's a puzzle that leads to a definite SHM. First one I found, actually. One of my earlier posts went through that particular puzzle as well.

    4. Redbutterfly, I got something really, really close to that when I worked on it. PUPKIN worked in context of the rest of that particular puzzle when you broke it down into P UP KIN. 'Kin' definitely meant 'related'. P UP means one letter up, namely a 'Q'. 'Q' = 'queue' = 'line'. What answer do you get to KIN LINE?

There appear to be at least two clues to be derived at each location along the vertical maze: a SHM and a 'door clue'. The door clue moves you to the next location along the maze. I'm getting the vague impression there are word puzzle clues to collect along the way as well, but I'm just getting started on all of this, so I don't really know as yet.

These are some good ideas cooking on this thread, but we need to get it expanded and organized. Cthree is going to make this hunt into its own topic if I can get him online at some point.

    Keep on keepin' on,

    Doc

Ok, I can't take it anymore, I have to spill the beans on what I may have come up with on the fourth floor. I wanted to be sneaky and not post anything because I would love to dig this up myself but... I don't live there and can't afford a trip. So if someone would like to team up with me, that would be great!
The metronome is a clock without a face in NYC. The clue on the website says there was two of everything. The Metronome and Grand Central Station (grand piano) clock are mirrors of each other with a different way of displaying time. These two clocks are bookends for Park Ave. Moon River is the song from Breakfast at Tiffany's which took place in NYC. The Tiffany's in the movie was on 5th Ave, within sight of the Metronome and Grand Central Station. There is a 5 in the woodchips.
Because there are two of everything, could this mean the number 11 is buried there?
Siegfried and Plumpjack has something to do with the opera, I haven't worked that one in yet. Metropolitan Opera or NYC opera?
The tunnels could be part of the subway system there. Inside the room of tunnels if you flip the book upside down, you can see some characters. They look like 4O4UTEP or 4O4UT4P. Haven't figured this part out yet. Hopefully I will tonight.
The thermometer says 95. I95 goes through New York.
Jim Steinman wrote "Total Eclipse of the Heart." He was from NYC.
God, if I only lived there I would take a trip downtown and see if I could see anymore clues!!! I know I am close, I can feel it! It has to be somewhere in those 15 blocks!
I wish everyone was wrong and this one was in MN like everyone says because that's where I live but I don't think it is.

What if all the numbers were buried within sight of famous clocks in cities across the US?

    Redbutterfly,

Where does it say on their web site that there are two of everything?
