    Maybe. The potential is there.

Star Trek is a repeated reference. The TV series Star Trek: Enterprise with Scott Bakula has an intro montage that has a glimpse of The Spirit of St. Louis airplane.

Charles Lindberg. The name Lind-berg has homage potential. Limburger cheese is very stinkym going with the smells and nose context.

in the context of things big and small, the funny tall and short duo in the import race car might be important in the scheme of things. We have Richard Kiel (Jaws from James Bond) and Jacky Chan in a Mitsubishi.

I am confident the reference that is most useful is 'Burt'...that is all.

Looks like I was totally wrong. I might as well have said Tim Burton is some kind of key to things...(note the side credit for a book cover Gus shows us by A.L. Burt, which was got me even more focused on Bert/Burt/Burnt type of connections relevant to reading anything and everything as a possible clue).
