Since "art" was part of the pink number sequence, it probably should not be anagrammed.

What if "art" is not someone's name, but short for "article". It could be part of a token clue. Maybe there is a printed article titled "Save our Trees" posted somewhere at a clue site. Maybe the token is behind or near the article.

Or, it could be a Beale type reference. Find this article and pull out words numbered by the pointing fairies and pink clues.

    It's not a place, it's a yearning. It's not a race, it's a journey.

On second look, I don't think the numbers the fairy is pointing to are the same color as "to helen". The numbers are more red.

(Or have the old eyes finally given out!)

I have thinking about the helen thing in a different way. So here are my ramblings for what it's worth.

"the secret is not half but it is not whole" also means
    "the secret is not whole"
    or
    the secret = NOT WHOLE

‘not whole’ anagrams to ‘two helon’ as in ‘to helen’ (too much of a stretch?)

I think the pink ‘to helen’ (all small case probably for a reason) will turn out to be very important to all the puzzles, maybe the key to the ciphers derived using Doc’s method. Or a caesar shift of 7 (sub-poem says it is the 7 that was the key)…or who knows….

    here's a crazy idea...
tohelen also anagrams to tele hon (telephone??) like use the phone keypad to translate letters to #s
Since the 1 has no letters that may be the one nary.
So I believe it would be an 800 or 888 # since it’s common knowledge to use a 1 before the number. That means for each jewel we’re looking for 7 letters to convert to 7 digits in addition to 8-0-0 (or 8-8- to total 10, which on a grid could be place 5 up and 5 across.
Like the whole point of the grid would be to get a phone number. Now what happens when you call it? You get told the exact location of a token.

Which you then find, and get another phone number, and.......

Not so crazy idea really. I've thought about it too, because I'm a texter. Isnt tht hw we gt r msgs acrs ths dys?

The other thing that made me think of this was the first line of our poem. hiDDen weLL no eye can sEE. LED. Which of course would be on a clock. So if you right the 1st poem line in LED, turn it upside down and read the numbers, you get 335330773300 or 003377033533. So 800-337-7033 ext 533?? I don't know about the extension # but the 800# is for Binding Techniques, Inc. Don't know what they bind. Books, maybe?

I also did this with the 2nd line of the poem, but that didn't get me anything either. Interesting thing was both lines got me 12 numbers.

Maybe someone can LED the rest of the poem lines and see what they come up with.

    glotowner -

I see the dedication as "to Helen". The "H" appears capitalized, as does the "The Hummingbird" on page 106.

An example of a lower case "h" (of this font) can be found in a few places; one being the chapter name on page 45: "Yorah".

(Let me know what you think.)

Either way, I agree the color of the dedication is something to direct us.

I see what you mean. On p36 caption the stylized h is used as a cap and a lower case. It is unique in that it is the only letter used this way.

I’m becoming attuned to watching for what is caps and what isn’t since there are places where there’s unusual use of caps. For example on p32 ‘the Linden stump’, all of Snails speech except the last word, Rusful says "Put the Halfling there…’

    onward & forward...
