    Default Chapter 6 - Lonely

I just read Howl by Allen Ginsberg. Domino what have you been smoking? That is one of the most disturbing poems I have read and I'm not sure how it applies, if it even does. Actually, I'm not sure I want to know how it applies.

    Partial Quote:

"who were burned alive in their innocent flannel suits on Madison Avenue amid blasts of leaden verse & the tanked-up clatter of the iron regiments of fashion & the nitroglycerine shrieks of the fairies of advertising & the mustard gas of sinister intelligent editors, or were run down by the drunken taxicabs of Absolute Reality,

who jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge this actually happened and walked away unknown and forgotten into the ghostly daze of Chinatown soup alleyways & firetrucks, not even one free beer,

who sang out of their windows in despair, fell out of the subway window, jumped in the filthy Passaic, leaped on n****, cried all over the street, danced on broken wineglasses barefoot smashed phonograph records of nostalgic European 1930s German jazz finished the whiskey and threw up groaning into the bloody toilet, moans in their ears and the blast of colossal steamwhistles"

    Really????????????

And by the way, that was a tame portion of the poem. It gets worse.

at least I can see you taking an angle on the the book. This forum has been empty as all- get out (as a cowpoke might say). anyway, if my silence on such matter seems on purpose, it is. Folks, I can't comment on a lot here forward. Just work through and ask each other. And sometimes putting an obvious source is because I know how things work on the forum (i.e. cipher types)...and google seems to be the twelevers best friend.

One advantage you all will have over others not on tweleve is that you know I know how you will want to know how I knowingly put certain somethings in the book...which I know may or may not be important to the solve of this treasure hunt. In case you wanted to know.

I'm not expecting replies from you Domino and don't want them, though I know how hard it must be not to say anything. And know that all my little pokes at you are in good fun, I am enjoying this.

Honestly, like you mentioned, I'm just trying to get some discussion going on this. I think Ratdog got bullied out. I have no problem talking about this as long as you don't give away outright solves. But ideas and nudges are totally all right with me.

Also, the more activity on a thread seems to draw more interest, and I would really like Domino to be successfull and sell alot of these books. Not too mention, that it bodes well for when I finally realease my own hunt (Blatant Advertising) Lol!!

Anyways, have some ideas on the Buck Owens songs as well.

    It's not a place, it's a yearning. It's not a race, it's a journey.

No, no - I've got pretty thick skin Ace999. My life just got busy in other areas is all. But I am working through a few things now and will keep you posted.

What I did notice here though after translating the font sets on the top and bottom was that they might point to a shift of some sort, based on their order?

Glad to see you're still around Ratdog. Looks like we are on the same page. I saw the shift as well. Same number of rotations, one forward and one back. Thought possibly rotating the underlined letters, the first becomes BED but the rest don't seem to do anything that makes sense.

    Hi Ace,

Hmm... to get BED you may have tried A=K in your substitution. I got something very different. These Dingbat and Wingding fonts are familiar to me.

    Top:
    IJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGH

    Bottom:
    FGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDE

...like it really helps! I didn't get LON=Bed. I got LON=TVW for the top substitution. LON=QTS for the bottom.

I have tried many approaches and have come up with nada! Ready to do a crossword puzzle. ...more fun...

    Trove on,
    Beth

Beth, I would double check your order for the bottom icons. I believe you made an error there. When you have it correct, you will see that you can indeed get BED from LON. Don't think it means anything though.
