I think Domino said earlier (I forget where) that we MIGHT NOT know what the words in the word-search MEAN until we put them with something else in the book. Another layer, I guess. As for me I certainly don't know what they mean!

Or if we are ten feet off the ground, maybe it is not putting it together with another part of the book at all... maybe it is putting together with the very book itself.

That might make some sense. I'm no expert in cattle rustl'in but I think you would say "Giddy-Up" to the horse just before you "Whip". You have to "Lasso" the cattle in order to use the "Branding Iron". I'm trying to remember what "Mustering" cattle really means, but you might have to do the "Corraling" in order to do the "Mustering". I think "Mustering" is is the goal at the end for the cowboy--it's when you finally get together all the cattle you have rounded up before you take them on a trail drive to market them.

I do think "Giddy-Up" and "Whip" do go together, because of the bubbles (as per my post in "Whip").

It has to mean something that "cattle rustl'en abilities" is italicized. And why did he use an E instead of an I in "rustl'en'? I thought maybe CRA could be an acronym for something, some kind of an Association or something.

    Just airing some scatter-brained thoughts!

So if I'm right, which one got there first, the Slug or the Turtle?

    I like Slurtles.

I get the idea that Greenhorn is only the Beginner portion of this hunt, and the place we want to begin honing things down starts with figuring out the State. My guess is it has something to do with the squigglies beneath the pencil.

Slurtles are good... sounds like a pokemon... or a character from Freakies cereal... I am slowly coming to the realization that there is a lot of density every where. The numbers on the pencil for example.... or the number that was different around the wordsearch. Seems the only way to get to the correct shift of sorts... so of course the squiggle should be meaningful too.

If we take it at face value, the wordsearch may boldly give us the city or the state (based on the band who covered that song) and that may be simple enough with over analysing it. But it does seem curious that the lyrics do mention a code type...

Not having been here a while, it seems that some work has been alluded to as being done, but not a whole lot of discussion really. Maybe folks have it nailed and are playing the quiet part of the game. Waiting for the final piece.

For me, I have discovered a lot of red herrings, links to an abandoned website, some ads for tweleve, and two song lyrics. The song lyrics seem to be the only two real clues I have thus far. But it seems that other lyrics should be forthcoming in other parts of the book.

I see some areas that seem to be heading in good directions - the palindrome page cries out for a certain code device to me, but it leads me nowhere. Some lines of code are still unciphered by me - the THINK ABOUT IT one, for example. There is a line that seems to be key, or A key, but no clue where to place it. Playfair tossed in but there again, wherefore to use it....

A lot of discussion regarding shapes of bubbles, smileys, and other constellatory objects but not how to apply them. Curious.

It's a great puzzle and even as it frustrates the bejeebers out of me, I do think it is pretty cool.

One of the things I have been trying lately has been the smiley constellatories... I have taken a piece of paper the same size as a page and overlaid it then copied the smiley positions to cut out. Then tried overlaying those two pages on different pages of the book... nothing remotely recognizable jumped out at me...

I tried that, but I hacked up my book like I was making a paper doll. Good news, I found my missing pages. Got lost when I was doing taxes.

Smileys...looking constellational, but also map-erational, like when you look at a good map of hiking tgrails and you see camp ground icons. I haven't found anything specific yet, just a thought.

    Default Pencil Code

Any clues on the pencil code? Using a substitution code, I can get the name of a state, but there is no verification that would tell me to use this particular method.

Anyone get anything or anywhere with the pencil?
