Domino once commented that this thread was "one one of the right tracks". However, we never did find out what "track" that was. Perhaps we can revive this thread. And maybe we will find out what the "right track" is.

One interesting thing that I found, that has caused me to become interested in this line of thinking again, is on page 15. The cowboy is remembering how he used to watch Buck Owens on his father's old 28 inch Phillip's television. Molnar pointed out in another thread that Philips is misspelled. But if the reference is really to Sam Phillips, it is not misspelled. Sam Phillips and Buck Owens actually are together on the sound track from the movie, "Crazy Heart". And the song that Sam Phillips does is titled, "Reflecting Light". Also on page 15, on the line just before the last line, it reads, "The treasure was a reflection of his attitude toward life." I think it seems odd that the word reflection, and Phillips, and Buck Owens are all on the same page. And the word reflection comes up in other places in this book too.

Way too cool Beth - Don't forget our triangles on the Brand matrix - prisms that would reflect light.

    I feel.....a song coming on....

This may deserve a second look. What is that connection on the page with Philips Buck Owens, thinking symbols, HOWL,etc.

With so many references to song lyrics, I feel like we are missing a song or two, or more!

Or when I find an obvious song, I don't know what to do with it.

Domino, maybe you could tell us if this thread is dead, or if there might be more songs in the mix?

Here are my 2 cents in regards to the musical references. I believe, just the act of writing a book about cowboys, you would have hundreds or more unintentional references/similarities to old (or new) Cowboy songs (or any song for that matter). I agree there are references to songs in the text or puzzles, but not quite to the extent that is being discussed here. I think we are looking for something more specific when it comes to musical references, specifically maybe 1 song per section (Not counting Saloon Song puzzle). Of all the lyric matches (or close references) listed in this thread, I would like to see if there is one resounding reference to a song per section. Not sure what to do after that..... Just my thoughts...

"This is the last cowboy song - The end of a hundred year waltz - The voices sound sad as they're singin' along -Another piece of America's lost."

    Randy,

Are you still working on the songs? I agree with you. I think there are probably only a few songs that we need to use to solve the puzzles in this book...maybe around six or so... I think this thread lists way too many songs. But it was a way of brain-storming.

Not sure how to help you here? It could be tangenting or a huge help for someone that is not to where others are. I cant speak to this because not all things are equal.
