Default New Question(s):"What is the hardest thing you've ever

    Here's another question:

What is the hardest thing you've ever done? and its companion: How were you able to do it?

I had an answer for you this morning, Stick, but I have no idea what happened to it! I made some general muckety muck comment about how you seem to be searching for something, and how tweleve is a pretty decent place to find answers.

    It's a tie:
    1. Let go.
    2. Look in the mirror. I mean, really look.

    Respectively,
    1. Love. I let go for love.
    2. I actually closed my eyes and started listening instead. What I heard was my ego banging around. I decided to be still, and in the quiet, found that while I'm in tune to many people in my life, I'm rarely in tune with myself. Or at least if I'm loud enough, I don't have to hear myself. (It turns out that the many risks I've been taking have all been a cover.) So, like you, I think, I'm trying to listen more. And I'm painting again, which has been great fun.

Hope that helps. It was probably more profound this morning, but like I said, who knows what happened. I hope you find that for which you're looking.

    Great question, by the way.

i think i found the answer was looking for - no more questions left. you all have really been kind and patient in allowing me to use this place as a way of understanding something i needed to. i am not sure, but i think introvert is done as well as some badly needed resolution has happened in the last few days.

i just want to thank all of you very much, you will never truly know how much this has helped me

looking in the mirror was helpful too, and listening

If you are still open to hear stories here goes. A little gross but such is life.
When I was 14 I had to have 6 major surgeries in 6 months time. All because my appendix ruptured and peritonitis set in. One of these was for an illiostomy bag. Yuch. Please look it up in order to get whet I mean. Anyway, the hardest time I had was having to replace this bag every 2-3 days. After a month the doctors reconnected my intestines. Went 2 weeks until I had to have another emergency surgery because my intestines were kinked. Nothing could flow out. You get my drift...
So I had to go back in and get cut open AGAIN!! Another bag. At this time(my fifth surgery) I was ready to die. I begged to die. No-one listened. I had to endure another month of painful bag replacements and muck. Imagine a bandaid that is 5 inches by 5 inches being ripped off of your stomach every 3 days. OUCH!!!! But I endured. Had no choice.
The time came to reconect my intestines yet again. I vowed that since I didn't die and was still here I had to suck it up and heal. Really heal. Never to go back kind of thing. So I did.
The alternative was to be forever dealing with my own s**t and peeling an adhesive pad for the rest of my life. No thank you.
The jist of this is when I took control of what was happening to me my life changed for the better. And as for how was I able to do it, well, I had no choice. I don't know how I was able, I only know I decided to BE able...
    Hope this helps...

    hardest thing...

    burying my son ...

    how did i do it?

LOTS of support from friends and family..and even people i didnt know...and valium - that did help me through the funeral...although i never finished the prescription...the shower was the only place i think i could fully release...heart wrenching crying...deep to my soul...

the anniversary of jodee's passing this year was harder than the 1st year....i have ended up re-living the whole episode for weeks...i think i have come out of that...if just a little...this song helped me:
(you can check the music thread to see the video and hear lindsay haun sing it)

Wake up to a sunny day,
not a cloud up in the sky
    Then it starts to rain,
    my defenses hit the ground
    And they shatter all around,
    so open and exposed

I found strength in the struggle
Face to face with my trouble

    When you're broken
    in a million little pieces
    And you're trying
but you can't hold on anymore
Every tear falls down for a reason
Don't you stop believing in yourself
    When you're broken

Little girl don't be so blue
I know what you're going through
Don't let it beat you up
    Heaven knows that getting scars
Only makes you who you are
Only makes you who you are
No matter how much your heart is aching
There is beauty in the breaking
    Yeeeaaahhhh

    When you're broken
    in a million little pieces
    And you're trying
but you can't hold on anymore
Every tear falls down for a reason
Don't you stop believing in yourself
    When you're broken

Better days are gonna find you once again
Every piece will find its place

When you're broken, when you're broken

    When you're broken
    in a million little pieces
    And you're trying
but you can't hold on anymore
Every tear falls down for a reason
Don't you stop believing in yourself
    When you're broken

    Oh, when you're broken

    When you're broken

    When you're broken

There are hard things you do once and its over. We've all done this lots of times - grit your teeth, steel your resolve, take a deep breath and jump, however you want to describe it.

Then there are the hard things that you have to do over and over again. It takes a strong person to face that each and every day. It takes a brave person to admit how hard it is.

you still have our support, holli.
