Default Yet another 5x5 solver you can download

I developed this specifically for the Treasures Trove. I have an interest in cryptology and have found that it is easier to have my own suite of tools than trying to use internet or other people's tools. I thought it would be fun to package some of the specific tools together just for Treasures Trove.

Requirements: Windows and .net (.net is automatically included with the windows updates).

    Features:
    - Run all 120 permutations of the 5x5 grid based on your input
    - Run 14,400 permutations of both the x and y axes.
    - Look up results in dictionary (to lookup all 120 results against 100,000 words takes less than a second, 14,400 takes 3 seconds)
    - Flag user specified words like SP
    - Reverse the input, output, of flip 5x5 grid
    - Caesar shift results
    - Easily save input or output
    - Anagram the results
    - Graphical interface, load a scan of the image and apply points to the image. It will solve based on your points.
    - It is being tested right now but you will be able to modify the 5x5 grid.

It is free. I don't expect anything in return. I am adding new features and enhancements almost daily so let me know if you have ideas or fixes.

    A couple of requirements:
    - You need windows, sorry all you Mac users.
    - You need an unzipping utility, XP comes with one, winzip or winrar are also recommended.

Once you download the zip file and copy the contents try to run WinPolySolver.exe. If you get an error message you might need to update your .net framework. You can download from microsoft at:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/T...displayLang=en

This is a 23 meg file. If you have dialup (sorry) let me know and maybe we can work something out.

If it still doesn't work let me know.

By popular request, I added the ability to run 14,400 (120x120) combinations of both the x and the y axes. I called it "Unlock Axes". Sorry about the name, I couldn't think of anything else to call it.

After loading the dictionary it will take about 3 seconds to generate all 14,400 results and check them against a dictionary of 100,000 words. It will take another 3 seconds to format and display the results. 14,400 results is a lot but you can use the "Match %" button to reduce the number of results you have to look through. This works by comparing the percentage of letters that appear in words to those that don't. Of course, use at your own risk. You might miss something good!

Wow, we can edit our posts now! That is great!

I am not sure. Did you try rebooting your computer after the installing the .net files? My executable does not require any other DLLs except .net.
