Yes, I believe latitude 44 deg, 23 minute is correct.

You get about a mile a minute, in lat long

    (therefore, on p. 19, "count 2 3 now sMILE")

Each STAR on p. 32 points directly to a letter (except bottom left), taken together comprise TREK.

    Just a friendly observation.

I am also inclined to believe that the riddle does not give just one co-ordinate where the key is located, but rather many co-ordinates or "waypoints" which you must navigate to reach the location of the key. Possibly coressponding to the "points of interest" symbols. My count is 5 so far, is that agreed or am I missing one?

I was hoping to discover a pattern by looking at each page that has the letters N, S, E and W on the appropriate borders; tracing an X from letter to letter, and seeing where the lines crossed. I didn't see a pattern (and many pages don't contain all four letters or they are located such that an X is not formed by connecting letters). On this page, however, the cross connecting the N in "signals," S in "speak," W in "wind" and E in "quest" seems to cross right at the key on Chief Abnaki's authentic buckskins. Coincidence?

My two cents regarding letters on the stones of the arch and keystone: I see the word "WESt" written backwards, perhaps connecting this page to p. 51, where the word "EAST" is written backward in seaweed. ("Kelp," I yelped?)

Going through some old notes. Here are some thoughts about this illustration:

Chief Abnaki's eyes are somewhat crossed, he is wearing a pendant with a cross inside a circle, and his legs are crossed. And the X formed by connecting the letters W, N, E and S in the margins has its conjunction at the key on his trousers. On the other leg of his pants characters seem to read "C 1 X [w/ two arrows or triangles]."

This could mean, "See one crossing (in both directions)." Or maybe it's, "See I crossing," and we are supposed to do something with his crossed eyes.

Of course, he's also sitting in front of a bridge, which is something that is crossed.

What is not used in the acrostics...2 "I"'s and 2 "t"'s
Excellent, thanks for the reminder, RP. I had been looking at that

It looks like so much X-referencing.

as the "MY FOOT" is on p. 31, there is a much closer association on p. 32.

And look at the mis-direction. Abanuki is looking up, but his foot, with the red X, is at the bottom of the page.

DEN / NED, neato. (and the p. 31 "tail" and p. 5 tail pointing, not the nose "lies"), And also within the context of Harley Quinn speaking from within his DEN.

I say it periodically, but this puzzle has so much in it, it would be great to see a lot more activity here.

And then...NED can also be a reference to page 16...I Meet a Pompous Fellow.

Hasn't it been mentioned as a reference to E.T. Stotesbury "Ned" from "Wingwood (121 EDEN St, Bar Harbor)

***Just went back a few pages and read from previous years...sorry about the duplication of "Ned"***

And then...don't know if this was discussed...but there is a short acrostic for "HAT" on page 33

Looking at the various pages...the one with a "Hat" pointing up is on page 23 (the fisherman) and he is pointing to NORTH or to certain color blocks???

Do lobster fisherman wear orange hats?? firemen?

Harley Quinn has a blue hat/cap
Panhandle Sam has a cowboy hat and has his hand up (wave)

Is Abnaki looking up to "sign" which brings you to other book pages...
