    Yes.

Quite a few interpretations. Each picture is both a stand-alone puzzle, and interwoven with other pictures.

You pretty much picked up on one or two interpretations:

    All (I)s in the fire.
placeing "All is" IN "the fire"
    The ALL is fire
(Steve, to "cross-puzzle": "So did those feet in ancient times walk where they buried their burning gold, so did they lay their mantle down")
There are other interpretations which are more relevant to the secular workings of the Fandango puzzle, both in the self-contained and interwoven context. (as I have referenced your post # 40 several hours ago in "Time Monks", I had previously begun to explain this in # 40, this thread )

Related to "mechanical" workings of the Fandango puzzle:

Check out the p. 47 thread, this forum, to see one of the interwoven references to "all eyes in the fire" (used to relate the p. 47 polybius encoding by tossing the "i" out of the matrix, and creating a message related to that image, post I = # 9)

is that a clock or a compass on the mantle of the fireplace

    6:00 or 12:30 if a clock

    6 steps

6 visable pairs of eyes (if you count the cherubs closed ones)

[QUOTE=OceanArcher;468511]I'm thinking that we are being too selective with the picture(s). The roman numerals seem to be spread across both pages - to read 'MCMXLVII' -- which translates to 1947 -- the year of the fire on the island.
    QUOTE]

There are actually 2 translations to the roman numerals depending on wheather you keep the spaces or not with spaces it would be 2147 without 1947

    Roman numerals

Are those remains (cherub, fireplace and the bell) still available for public inspection, and if so where are they exactly?

    Also, how about those frogs?

In this painting is yet one more direct link to MASQUERADE with nearly an identical pose seen here for Jack Hare as in his own story.

The fireplace is also in the background of the cherub photo in this history book, the fireplace is not exact but close. There's also a photo of that bell in this history book, but I believe that former estate is in a different part of town.
    Hi Sean (and Linda),
What is the name of that book and do you recall the author's name?

It is possible that the grouping of the numbers itself is important. It appears to me the spacing is MC--MXL--VII.
The preceding page is drawing attention to a number, due to the sheer number of lines. Up until the last 2-odd out, there are 33, followed by the 2, followed by the page # (33).

(also, the total number of letters on the top and bottom of this picture. and 10 x 10, X X on the sides).
