    Default What is the Riddle?

Morpheus wants to know, what is the Riddle? aka 'the master riddle'.

All this discovery about the history of Mount Desert Island has been fun. But in order to find the key, the riddle must be revealed first.

Here is a good reference to get us started:

    -Rusty

p.s. Yes, I realize Morpheus is the god of dreams, blah blah blah...

    It's not a place, it's a yearning. It's not a race, it's a journey.

Just wondering how much "tides" may play a part as well. "The Key to the Wind". Hmn....what's the answer to that?

By the way CW - according to the wind article you posted, the picture on page 32 would be
"Beaufort Code 1: speed 2-3 miles per hour, light air, smoke drift slowly".

    Don't know where I'm going...but I know I'm almost there!

There are a lot of recurring themes here. Wind, time, mythology, history, astrology. Let's poke around a bit at astrology and time.

The basic astrological symbols appear on page 11 and elsewhere. Here is a key to them:

The standard astrological wheel is oriented just as a clock face. The astrological signs can me matched to times on the clock as such:

    12 o'clock: Aries (0) (The Ram)
    1 o'clock: Taurus (30) (The Bull)
    2 o'clock: Gemini (60) (The Twins)
    3 o'clock: Cancer (90) (The Crab)
    4 o'clock: Leo (120) (The Lion)
    5 o'clock: Virgo (150) (The Virgin)
    6 o'clock: Libra (180) (The Scale)
    7 o'clock: Scorpio (210) (The Scorpion)
    8 o'clock: Sagittarius (240) (The Centaur)
    9 o'clock: Capricorn (270) (The Sea-goat)
    10 o'clock: Aquarius (300) (The Pitcher)
    11 o'clock: Pisces (330) (The Fish)

So, times on clocks, astrological symbols, and wind directions may all refer to the same code.

rusty sorry i think i misread your post
you are asking what is the master riddle?

i thought that the text, around the illustrations
was the riddle, and we are looking for the key,
to solve it could be wrong, would not be the
first time to be wrong, anyway the text, the caps
    are the colored letters

A riddle is a question, not merely a puzzle to solve, or a text to interpret.

If a riddle is to be solved, we must first find the question.

It sure seems like Masquerade was the model for this book. (Which is one of the things that makes me question the motive and prize fund, but that is a different thread.)

I'm sure this hunt will really get cooking if somebody figures out what the master riddle is.

One question to ask yourself, from the start, is why did they desgin the hunt
so as they needed to tell you that it was in a specific park.
