    Default Points of Interest

There are symbols for 'points of interest' of each of the following picture pages:

    p7 - Neptune = Red (On Neptune's ring).
p11 - Key = Red (In the green quadrilateral, centre of the page).
p30 - Map = Grey (On the spine of a book on top shelf).
p40 - Wisdom = Black (On the sign for Sieur De Monts Spring).

and none (as far as I could see) on the remaining 12 picture pages.

Does anyone think there is any significance in this?

Perhaps these are the four pages we should pay particular interest in?

It should be noted that on the last page on the map. It includes 6 points of interest on the map. This may represent where those visual clues are pointing to. Your list I believe is a little incomplete. I think you merged two pages. I agree with the the first 3 but then:

Page 40 - Wisdom = The symbol is Black on the number code on the window sill.
Page 44 - Mountain = Here the symbol is on the post for the destination Sieur De Monts Spring.

Finally and this may just be my imagination, but the symbol can be seen again or at least part of it on Page 19 Reflection. The symbol is on the back of the Camper on the spare tire.

There has been a little bit more of a discussion on the 'points of interest' in this thread.

Page 56 - Mount Desert map

It does seem that there could be something more to them.

The author did choose to use them on these certain pages/positions.

On page 30 it is on the 'myths and legends' book. Does this mean we should research 'myths and legends'(in relation to the story)? There are a lot of myths concerning the Wind.

With there also being a 'point of interest' on the Sieur De Monts Spring sign-- should the legend connect to this area? could all the 'points of interest' point to one spot and be related?

    Thanks guys,

I'd missed the thread points of interest discussion on Page 56 and hadn't spotted the other POIs you've mentioned.

I do think though that they are points of significance.

If you joint the 'dots' of the POIs on the map it looks a bit like a constellation. At first I thought it was Ursa Major but that has 7 stars. Not big on astronomy so don't have any other idea what it could be.

Then again - I could be losing the plot and be barking up the totally wrong tree

With the exception of Thunder Hole, the other POI's generally fall on a straight line.

    From p. 16:
Keep your head is my motto =

Map my route / hides key Too

We may need to put Fandango's travels and stops in order, creating a map that uses POIs. The order of Fandango's travels in the pages in the book may or may not be chronological.

I have some suspicions about the importance of putting the times in order, and I am guessing that some of the "times" are hidden in the text and illustrations. We see clocks or watches in some images, but the Proud Old Fop illustration looks like a sundial, and the text that goes with the fairy page tells us that it's dark and the fox has slept for hours. So there may be an equation or variations on written and visual clues to discover and it will provide a meaningful number only if we know the "time" from Fandango's previous stop.

The "point of interest" addendum from the last page (an anagram I played with) may be telling us that we need to use a different strategy (changeover) every time we pass a POI on the route map. There are six POIs on the map on p. 56 (unless you count the one in the legend). Or maybe this won't be a literal map, but a figurative route through the book?

    POI list
    p. 5 Sieur de Monts Spring is identified as a POI on p. 58 map

    p. 7 Neptune's ring

    p. 11 In green square near middle of collage

    p. 19 - POI not in illustration? Or is the wheelcover a stylized POI symbol?

    p. 30 - spine of Myths and Legends book

    p. 32 - POI not in illustration? Is POI hidden in anagram of "Smoke Signals/Spirits Speak"? = POI Link trips Messages Asks? Are there other anagrammed POIs?

    p. 40 - POI on magic square in window frame.

    p. 44-45 - POI on Sieur de Monts Spring sign. Cadillac Mtn. is among POI on p. 56 map.

    p. 56 - map has six POIs
