Because Pel said the key would be hard to find if you're in a wheelchair, I'll assume the key is hidden away from any road, sidewalk, or flat path. In that case, it is probably still there seeing the key includes instructions so even if it were found by chance, the finder would most likely claim the prize, and Pel would have sent the email to those on the list.

    Official Rules from the website/book:
"Clues and the master riddle will be revealed after the End Date either on a website or in a subsequent publication."
"The sponsor reserves the right not to reveal the winner, should the winner so request, until the End Date. After the End Date, the winner will be revealed."
How would anyone know whether the key was found years ago but the winner requested waiting until the End Date to be 'revealed'? Does this rule also apply to the hunt in general? I've read other posts presuming Questers would receive email notification if the treasure is found, but the implication is that we'd be notified shortly after someone discovered the key. In other words, unless the winner just can't contain themselves and posts definitive proof of finding the key/treasure, how is one supposed to know if they've solved the hunt, traveled to the correct location to recover the key (assuming it is a physical item), but got beat out by another treasure hunter because nothing was there? Will notification of a successful solve come before November, 2020?

The total silence on this type of thing over the years is problematic. Would it kill him to post a yearly update on the site as to whether it's been found. Or if he even knows it's still there?

    My “For What It’s Worth”:

Has anyone thought that there might be a set of letters that act like blue? Their answers go “deep down” through the pages — maybe 1 letter per “1 of 4” border sides, no anagramming needed?

I also thought “to the highest point” might reference letters the highest stars were pointing to.

Also, on another site I heard real-life treasure maps were sometimes meant to be folded in a particular way so points of interest would have a straight crease that gave a new, unmarked point somewhere else — that’s why they were called “origami maps”. Rare but real. On the Harley/MAP page, the map he is using looks oddly folded. (And the for the real Obsessive Compulsives, some of those book numbers are waaaaay off.)

Is Fandango always looking in the direction of the treasure?

Is each page, easy to pull out, the same map over and over again, or do they (or at least some — fit together like a mosaic?

Each picture has an outer border of solid color — and they appear in no particular order right now. Why?

Just a thinking out loud ...

If the winner chooses, their IDENTITY will not be revealed. Pel has said that when the key is found, he will send an email to everyone on the followthefox.com mailing list notifying them that the hunt is over. No such email has been sent, therefore the hunt is still on. Unless, as I've said before, someone found the key, along with instructions about what it is and how to claim the prize, and "decided" not to claim the prize yet. This is highly unlikely as it goes against human behavior.

mattylarocha: also crossed my mind that a winner's IDENTITY would not be revealed (until the end date) but if the key was claimed, then notification that the hunt was solved would be communicated. Just 'thinking' out loud now that I've picked this hunt back up and wondering if the additional effort still had the potential for success! Thanks for the response,

Similar thoughts as I approach this from the opposite direction, in which I'm trying to take the 20,000 foot view and string together clues that connect various pages to each other as part of the master solve. For example, One of Four could mean there are four 4x4 squares connected throughout the book, the most obvious being the 3 that resulted in the "C MASQUERADE" solve. Where's the 4th square? Or does One of Four mean that the Proud Ol' Fop is actually John Jacob Astor, the youngest (last in line) of four sons (one of four) who established a fur trading company ("Everyone gets skinned!") and had his own cottage on Mount Desert Island?

Anyway, I believe there is something strategic in the borders, many of which are mirror images of each other when flipped on the x-axis or y-axis (or both), indicating a possible 'fold' is needed like you pointed out on the Harley Map.

What about the pencil drawings on many of the pages, and how do those relate (cuz me thinks that they do)? Or the pages with certain text offset in a strange way, more pieces I've failed to put together yet.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, nice to know Fandango is still being worked on by some, I hope to come up with something new by trying to stay on the 'big picture'.
