I have heard from Pel when Ive written also. 4 years ago on followthefox, I sent a solution and asked if I was right. the reply was "no and good luck with the hunt".Last year after many searches i found an email linked to Pel and asked him to post a new clue or put it in the newspaper like masquerade did, to push the hunt along .the reply i got was. "We can not do that, it would not be fair to those people who do not use the web."

As for follow the cat, whale, eagle i know for a fact they were thinking of doing other hunts. Two years ago while in Bar Harbor I was in Sherman's Books and i asked if they had any more copies of Fandango ? Because my copy has become unglued. While talking with the owners they said the Stockwells had been in asking if they started a new hunt would the book store take part in a scavenger type hunt around bar harbor.

So the big question here is if Fandango had until the second sunset to find the wind, Why is the Eagle trying to catch him at the gate house so soon in the book???

On page 46: "Fox, you clown," The eagle cried. "I'm just here to intercept You. Neptune sent me to be sure you kept Your promise. But your second sun's gone down. You blew it, so you're headed back to sea!" .....It is curious that the Eagle goes for him way back on page 18...but I think the reason is to get him moving. When the tourist takes his picture, "Flash! I sat there grinning and half-dazed With light....until I chilled beneath the shadow Of something passing overhead- a bird As big as I was, swooping down so low I had to roll to dodge its talons.....I think the Eagle was just trying to get him to move- either by getting him to run away, or if perhaps he had caught him he would have delivered him somewhere away from the tourists so he could complete his mission. On page 20, "The eagle tailed me, but he didn't dive Back down."

I dont understand why he responds to some but he does. And you don't have to believe me. Thats fine by me. But he did answer me- I sent him a solution to his website contact point and he said and i quote: "Thank –you for your inquiry. Unfortunately what you have described is not correct. There is a key hidden in a specific spot. Solving the riddle will reveal that location."

Again, don't believe, its fine. for others here who choose to believe I am being truthful, then to you guys I say: LOOK!! Confirmation a key is hidden in a specific place! excellent news.

that reply came on feb. 11th, 2018

I looked back through my emails. He's replied 3 times to me. I emailed 3 times, he replied 3 times. I do know if you don't put your email address in the body of the email he can't respond.

ALSO to those working the hunt.... has anyone given any thought to how easily the otter gave up the key? did he really give it over? just wondering if the otter is smarter than we think.
that is the only place in the book that there is VERY specific description of location. thoughts?

I think this is crucial. The line "i got the gift" at the bottom of page 6 makes me wonder if the eagle was giving him a ride? and the fox is deceiving us about the eagle. OR- If you look at the bird on page 42- the one with the LOBSTER TAIL??! does NOT look like the eagle drawings. Just a weird drawing? Was there more than one bird? Are the miles "as the crow -or albatross?? (theres a penguin book connection to albatross)- flies" ?

thanks for the input and reminder about the eagle Mainer.... Looking forward to getting to our Bar Harbor house this summer, visiting sherman's, town hill market (listen, those sandwiches are killer!) and hiking the trails!

I sent him a solution to his website contact point tonight - Interested if I get a response. I will keep you updated. Perhaps Pel is like God, and only responds to those he feels worthy. The ways of Pel are strange, indeed

Good discussion. Was it always specifically an eagle (need to go back and check). Since this is followthefox, does he periodically cross things that are eagle-related? Eagle Lake, Eagle Road, etc?

I'll also mention that eagle is a golfing term meaning "hole in one". A hole is a place to hide things. Our solution led us to a place with a group of several things, one of which had five holes in it, corresponding to the five Eagles on p. 47. (Five holes in one). We only found this out after arrival at the site. Although we are very confident in the solve due to the dozens of clues pointing there, I don't like the eagle as "hole in one" because it is specialized knowledge (maybe we're expected to use the dictionary for "eagle"? - we did early on, so realized the significance ) and the five holes in one doesn't help locate the site, only confirms post facto. Unless it has another meaning and is just coincidental with the site.

If you take the first letter of this, and the letters at the end, and the letter below that, you get SKIN

SKIN is four letters. There are two capital Is in there. I=1 in capital letters. Take SKIN(4) MINUS I(1), what do you get? 3

Look at the end of the third line, "BS" It's all BS, he's telling us it's all BS
